Loving it, especially the Daytona rally I loved that game as a kid. The Riviera is top notch too, would be quick way to empty the wallet! Always been cars and bikes for me. This is the latest. R32 Skyline GTR bought it from a guy who was being forced to sell by the missus to pay for the wedding, tough break. He had sunk all sorts of money into it in the right spots. Other than that travel is our other treat. We try to do 4-6 weeks overseas every other year and I'm currently planning the big one. I get 10 year long service in 2017 so want to take 12 months off in 2018ish.
Reminds me - my keyboard, guitars and associated equipment would probably pass as toys....... The Y-man
Nice Riviera @Rixter - is that your actual boat, or is it a goal? And if it's yours, what length is it?? A Riviera and a permanent marina berth are on our list of luxury goals, but whether we could actually bring ourselves to spend the money on them or not is another question.....
For his 40th birthday, we bought my husband a car he was drooling over - an AMG A45. Nearly a year in and he still loves it
I really really want a decent boat, but not at that point of having enough "free" cash just yet. So just have a small runabout at the moment. Luckily my old man has a large fishing boat i get out on every now and again, so keeps me from doing something silly and buying one for now
It earned me some major brownie points drg86.... I'm still contemplating what I want for my 40th next year.... I think given the precedent set by Chris's car, it has to be something pretty spectacular
Sold my Toy when I was 23. Had a VN SS I sunk about 25k into. Sold it and used it for my first deposit... We now have 2 Weimaraner dogs, which cost an arm and a leg to own. The next big toy will be after we pay down the PPR, either a 2dr HQ Monaro or a 69 camaro. I like to avoid indulging in most material items, new TVs etc.. But everyone has their vices.. Oh on that, we have collected approx 200 bottles of wine over the past year also..
Been following the guy since #10. He is a superstar. Others to follow are Lee Fancourt and David Alley. Inspirational guys. pinkboy
I don't believe this is something to ponder, it's mandatory. What's the point of sacrificing for most of your life? Whether it's a nice car or travel or collecting china dolls, life is something to be enjoyed right now, not put off until you're retired. Very few of the many successful people I know believe in 'delayed gratification' which to me, is a restrictive mentality. That is, 'I have to give up all (or almost all) of the things I want today, for the hope of a better tomorrow'. Truly successful people view the world as 'How can I have the things I want today, as well as achieving my goals?' That's the difference.

I really like cars. Always have. And I also like to spend some of my hard earned on me, particularly when we live reasonably frugally elsewhere, and have moved at least 1.5x a year on average for the last 6 years. I sold my 2013 Rangie a while back to free up extra cash flow to allow us to acquire more sites, which hurt a bit, but my wife has allowed me to begin looking at new cars at the end of the year, once we get settled in our new home. I'm thinking maybe a second hand Macan, but not sure they will have depreciated enough to really be worth it at that point. I guess you could call the new home a bit of a toy too, of all the places we have built, this is the first we are building "for us". We are installing our first ever pool (3 * 4m so more like a puddle really), have wiring throughout the place for speakers etc etc, and I'm having a big arse flat screen installed in my new ensuite, so I can watch it while in the bath. After my back surgeries, there is nothing better than soaking in there for a good hour or two. Gonna be sweet
Never been one for "toys" ... so I guess my farm with those unproductive horses and dogs ... oh ... and definitely my weekly house cleaner
I have always had boats - never anything which comes close to Rixters - but a decent boat all the same. Then of coarse I need a good car to tow it with. Ideally this would be an F250, however, have settled for a Land cruiser, Hilux, or Navara in the past (noting I don't own a car at the moment) (still have the boat though). Throw in all my dive gear, camping gear, ice boxes, etc and Im ready to go for as long as I feel like. Making me home sick thinking about it. Blacky
