    Nice. Royal oak offshore?

I got invited to a Panerai dinner a few years ago. At dinner, they handed around the new collection released that year. The Chinese guy sitting next to me picked up the tourbillon, asks how much, then said I'll take it without flinching. It was $145k.

I don't wear a watch anymore. Amazingly, time still passes like it used to!

I have a Longines Lungomare with a black dial. I've had it for close to 10 years now, and still looks good as new, even though I wear it every day.

Along the way I have collected a Tissot, a Longines and a Cartier sitting a drawer somewhere. Stopped wearing them when I started having to regularly visit construction sites where all jewellery needs to be removed. Mobile phone is the easiest.

I have a couple of "mid range" I suppose, but this is by far my favourite :D

I rarely wear any of them now. It seems absurd.

Forgive the "I'm a douche taking pics of my watch in my car" shot, I borrowed it from a post of mine a while back in an "I'm a douche taking pics of my watch in my car" forum thread, just trying to fit in with the Rolexes and Porsches hahahaha.

Wondering why Rolex is so expensive, what is it that makes it a cut a above the others?

Checked Rolex and a little disappointed in the look for the big $

I have a few interesting things picked up on ebay. Ex soviet stuff.

Plus a few sterile dial Chinese pieces. The seagull movement is very reliable. Especially the hand wound ones.

Nothing break the bank though. Would love a Dornbluth. Hand made in Germany with a proce to match. 3000 euro from memory.

I'm not a big fan of Rolex. Quite dull designs. Rolex are actually a mid-tier luxury brand. Many other brands have much more prestige and historical significance - Patek, AP, Breguet, Vacheron Constantine, JLC

really, I thought Rolex was the top, but I am not into watches, but why is rolex so iconic, never heard of the brands mentioned other than Breguet... this is so interesting

Next question do they hold their value, I am assuming Rolex does?nwhat about the others? can you sell in 10 years and they have doubled in value. BTW who cares if you love it, a luxury and if you can afford good for you

Mostly the brand equity driving the justification in prices. Why not, they spend so much for marketing to develop that equity, they want to see returns. The brand equity is the cut above- not the product itself.
