I used to look forward to casting my vote in federal elections. Started voting in Howard's reign.

Now; they're exponentially becoming more tedious.

Still have a strong distaste left in my mouth after the farce of both the 2010 and 2013 elections.

    Election year 2016, great.

McNally writes: "But there is no consensus in the research on whether putting children into gender categories is helpful or simply premature and possibly disruptive."

That's enough for me to support removing the program. They need to conduct formal studies before unleashing this en-mass upon the public.

Yes, teaching queer theory in schools is akin to teaching creationism.

For those confused about the difference between sex and gender. Sex = male/female. Gender = masculine/feminine. Sex is a biological fact, neither shameful nor determinative of personality. Gender is constructed by culture; eg socialisation. It is a system of social control, the assignment/enforcement of dominant personality traits in males and submissive personality traits in females. Your son is male but not masculine, and that SHOULD be fine; that should be GREAT in fact, given the harms of masculinity (war, rape, etc).

However, if we accept that males are not innately masculine and females are not innately feminine, then we must also admit that the system of women serving men in order to gain their protection from other men is not natural but instead exploitative. If men are no longer excused for violent behaviour, male dominance disintegrates.

This is a huge social upheaval, which is why so many would rather pretend that feminine boys are girls trapped in the wrong body--what could be more cruel than to tell your child their personality should not exist in their body?--than simply accept that boys can develop the same personality traits that girls can naturally develop.

To put it another way: we are supposed to redefine the category 'girl' to include XY in order to avoid redefining the category of 'boy' to like dolls and dresses.

I believe that paedophilia is an inbuilt attraction, the same way that heterosexuality or homosexuality is. It is not something that can be 'changed', and a person with these thoughts is not inherently evil. There is a program set up by an otherwise 'normal' married man, who has always had paedophilic thoughts, but has never acted on them to try to help people with these urges. I am not a sympathiser, but nor am I ignorant enough to deny its ubiquity.

I unknowingly started reading a "literary masterpiece" book called 'Lolita' last week, which quickly became apparent that it was penned by a paedophile who normalises his impulses and falls in love with an child. His description and feelings about these young girls, he blames (not the right word) the child for their devil impulses. I could not read beyond only a few pages. It's horrifying.

As a father of a 5,3 and a 1 day old ( :) ), anyone who acts on these impulses should be locked up and/or taken off the face of the earth. The power differential and potential abuse makes it absolutely not ok, in any circumstances.

    Yeah, I don't get it.

Interesting point. I haven't really read much about the safe school, however the impression is that it's more of a problem for biological male than it is a female?

People knowingly receive sacraments from clergy with those views. But bulk at a real estate agent?

Girl. Perhaps it's good to move off topic in this thread.

WTF is third age queer theory? Who gets paid to come up with odd things like this?

I don't know anything about this topic but my take is:

A boy is a boy. A girl is a girl. Some people fall in between, either mixed plumbing or mixed neurons.

Girls are allowed to be assertive. Boys are allowed to be sensitive.

All part of being a complete person. Traits that form part of who we are.

Let the kids figure it out for themselves, in their own way. Things only go wrong when you get adults involved who think they know better...
