Went with the colour choice Carpet One recommended for an IP and didn't think too much about it. Now it's installed 'neighbourly - Feldspar' looks grey and clashes with the yellow walls, cork floor and wooden kitchen. Has anybody had experience with dyeing carpet or can recommend any fixes in Brisbane.

Did you think about changing those light fixtures? I think they clash with everything. Might soften the look and get away without colouring the carpets.

I would just leave it. I don't think it's that bad.
If you are just renting out then I'd worry about the wall colours before the floor colour as a more modern wall colour will appeal more.

    Paint the walls.

It's not a small job to dye carpet a different colour.

I agree that the carpet looks quite ok, dying it would likely leave it patchy and uneven.
+1 on updating the light fittings.

    I’d leave it alone.

Paint the walls instead. Carpet seems ok to me

I would leave it as it is. But I'd also swap the light fittings to make things a bit more modern.

Do Nothing. Really it's fine. I had a carpet dyed once, boy oh boy wouldn't do it again.

Don't listen to all these people above. Dye the carpet and post images of the result...

Looks fine. Yellow walls aren't great;)

You probably can't that carpet regardless as it is either precoloured nylon or polypropylene.

That IP carpet is indestructible (apart from oil based spills) but really really awful ;P

Good to hear the carpet is indestructible. Would have gone with a different type if I realised it's the same stuff we had at school. Sounds like dyeing the carpet becomes more like tie dyeing. Thanks for the input all.

I'd bet my firstborn it's Polypropylene. This particular one will crush badly because it's a medium pile, but it can't be stained, and so cheap.

    (P.S. I don't have kids, but I'm still 99% confident it's PP).

I don't mean to be Mr Negative Nancy, but I agree- it clashes awfully. On the other hand, I wouldn't be too worried because I don't think the tenants will care. I've never had a tenant say no to a property because they didn't like the colour scheme.

The carpet's not that bad. I would be tempted to change the light fittings for sale but probably not rental unless it proved a sticking point.

i agree with the comments above, paint walls white and put in simple modern light fittings.
