    I'm happy with my lot.

Would I change a few things if I had my time again? Sure.

Could I guarantee that I'd be any happier now. No.

    Regards

    Andrew

No question. Yes! I could make a lot more money the second time around.

So what I'm reading is that we... older, largely successful people, would generally be happy to trade in our assets and happy start again, 25 years younger.

What I see is that we typically have a lot of confidence in our own ability to be able to do it again... and perhaps, even better/quicker second time around. :)

What can't anybody do now that they could do when younger?
    I don't get it...

I'd have started becoming a much better volleyball player (needed better coaching), possibly advanced my gymnastics skills, would have not done stuff at uni that didnt get me anywhere but maybe studied IT as a first degree perhaps... would have been employed full time before year 2000 (though I like my job)... gotten into the Sydney market before year 2000... and cleaned up. ;)

There have been plenty of lessons in 25 years. Would love to be able to take that knowledge and do a reboot.

Apart from the last bit, because none of us can go back in time, you can still do all that stuff now, still plenty of time.

One of my hobbies is high-end audio.... the type that sets your hairs on end while you slink back into a comfortable armchair. As you age, you lose the ability to hear the finer details.

Also motorsport, which was one of my ambitions that I missed out on - if you want to get to Formula 1, you almost definitely need to start in karting as a little one. I make up for the lost opportunity with some good track time in my Lotus though :)

As for sports, I played table tennis, baseball and basketball a lot in high school. I wasn't the fittest then but I was fit enough to have a lot of fun. Nowadays? hmmm

Disagree. For example, I cant change my first degree.
But I guess it doesnt matter as they havent invented a "lose 25 years machine" or pill anyway.

High end audio and Race Cars sounds like a winning combination. (Forza night? :p)

I'd absolutely do it, though I'd probably only like to give up about 15 years for now, go back and do the last couple of years of high school again and on.

Especially if I get to keep what I know now.

When I was younger, I studied full time, worked full time and ran a business at the same time. I don't have the energy to do that now.

If I got to keep what I know now but was 25 years younger, I could apply that knowledge and by the age I am now, I would be able to retire. I can't set myself up now to retire now... it will probably take another 15 years.

I don't know your personal circumstances, but doesn't the last 25 years count for anything?
If you're saying you can't set yourself up to retire, for at least another 15 years you're probably right as you'd know yourself better than anybody.

I know if I lost everything today, I'd be confident of being able to retire in another 5 years from now.

    Sure does! :)

I had a great 25 years. I've only been investing for the last 10 though. If I had been investing for the last 25 years, I would be in a completely different situation.

Why would you want to swap everything you own to spend another 25 years in a nursing home?
