Would you rather be 10yrs old with what you know now or be 55 with $3m?

A average worker earns about 200 pesos a day
One Australian dollar is worth 38 pesos

I view kids dreams as something much further above what reality can offer. And growing up involves slowly decending the staircase down to reality. Some parents try to protect their kids from that gradual decent. And instead of a staircase down to reality, you get 18year olds facing a cliffs edge.

To a large extent I agree. When I have kids I will not be preparing them for societies narrative but a far superior reality I know they can and will have as long as they grow up to be mature, responsible, law abiding respectful young adults. That will be the challenge, to make sure they are instilled with enough good values and common sense so that they can triumph through much of societies nonsense to have the best chance of living a fulfilling and wonderful life.

If you think you can't have dreams like a kid as a mature age adult then you're highly limiting yourself.
Reality is what you make it.
Giving up on dreams is a lack of belief and confidence.

I think the issue is that kids dream about what they can have, rather than what they can be. Adulting is realising that you have to 'be' before you can 'have'.

I was just thinking/typing similar re myself. I was a huge dreamer for my financial future and pretty much started working when I was 7, washing cars, cleaning pools, walking dogs, mowing lawns etc, etc. Unfortunately I didn't receive guidance/mentoring, so having what I know now at 10 would have been very handy.

However not only for financial purposes, restarting with the body of a 10 year old again.
Wouldn't think it was cool to take up smoking on the back of the school bus at 12.
More focus/dedication to fitness for the NRL career I could of had rather than getting distracted by girls, grog, pot etc.

Disagree. I always thought Sydney and Melbourne more than that.

Definitely 10 with what I know now.

I could put pocket change on Footscray winning the AFL premiership and have 3 million 18 months later!

That would then give me a good base to begin using my property knowledge :)

Agreed. Having dreams definitely requires confidence. It also requires creativity and imagination, which is nourished by confidence. As I was reading the thread I was thinking of The Little Prince and also of how as adults we can be so limited by our concrete perceptions and fear of the abstract. This is an impediment in so many ways.

10 years old...But I think at 10 years old it would be pretty impressive to know what most of us know about property now

Wouldn't you want to turn back the age from 56 to 10 and have an extra 46 years to live on this earth again? I sure would if I was around that age :)

My daughter said that she was dreaming of a white wedding - 1 m of powder snow on a bluebird day in a wedding dress and thermals.

    She'll be and she'll have ;)

    Here is the newspaper article

A comment was made earlier that this in A$ would be a lot more than the official conversion rate of 38 pesos to a dollar due to the lower standard of living

    YES I agree

It is probably really A$20m in Australia than $3M !

As long as it didn't replace the childhood I had, 10.

    If I don't have 3m at 55, I've f***** up

100% agree, there is no way I would want to put what I know into the head of a child, they need to be free and innocent whilst they are children :).

Also what psychological impact would it have on a 10 year old brain to suddenly dump an understanding of finance, memories of a first sexual experience, pressures of work stress, illness and pain, having your heart broken for the first time, drug and alcohol experimentation. Way too much info for a 10 year old brain to comprehend and not "break"
