My prediction.. this time next year trump will win and the markets will be up another 20% from today's prices.

You wouldn’t think the fundamentals would support such a increase , but as I have been learning that doesn’t mean much.
If I had to make a predication I’ll say 8% total return over 2020.
That’s based of my highly researched, technical / fundamental analysis expertise. :D

Lol you crack me up. I'm learning the same, price movements are not following fundamentals. With trump in for another term he will drop rates and boost the markets.

Elliot Wave (former) enthusiast’s Surfboard graveyard:

However at least one ex-Elliot Wave enthusiast found a use for his surfboard. He had no choice as he had lost so much money being out of the market in cash for many years waiting for the next mother of all Elliot Waves that he couldn’t afford to buy a new letter box to replace his old one:):

I snapped my board in half from frustration. Never to be used again.

Might look at doing another lump sum purchase before Christmas. Might have to reach out to Mr advisor next week. I can’t see the December 23rd / 24th low that was expected coming to fruition.

Very true. But futures are showing a positive open on Monday. And with the reasonably positive political news on Friday I would expect Monday to stay positive. So we would need 4 consecutive days of significant drops to achieve any sort of decent low on the 23rd.

Possible? Yes. But I’m not holding my breath. Though I watch on with curiosity.

Maybe it’ll end up being a case of buy the rumour, sell the fact:).

It's the other way round. A sibling of buy high, sell low.

Having completed portfolio simplification I only need one rule now being “never sell”. Beside being a busy retiree I don’t have the time to be recording Sell transactions:rolleyes:.

The SMSF pensions may eventually force us to sell but I don’t view it that way in reality as it simply gets reinvested in personal names. A transfer in effect. However at some stage tax circumstances may warrant commuting the pensions back to Accumulation mode as you have done SK.

Retirement is tough, there’s just not enough hours in the day:(.

This simple portfolio sounds boring. Mix it up a little. Try a little market timing and some speculative investments to keep it interesting. :p

Having spent the last 3 weeks in the US, all i can say is that they love themselves some ETF'S! They are everywhere over here! Also, the people here are obsessed with apple iphones and earbuds and love their starbucks coffee! And shopping! They definitely shop til they drop! Was in a local diner getting massive meals whilst looking at the streaming tv monitors, 1 tv for sports, other for markets channel and the past week when the dow hit the skids for a day or so it did not interfere with the influx of tourism and spending done day by day by the locals and general population.

They dont concern themselves about trump they just go about their daily lives working and spending all of their income. I recall speaking to a chap who said 1 in 6 US citizens dont have 400 dollars in a checking account for emergencies and here we are contemplating where to put the next 5 to 10k be it etfs or lics!

I’ll leave that to you young fellas who like giving your money away to other market participants:). @SatayKing ‘s paperclip investing approach is about the maximum excitement I can muster nowadays in regard to investing:cool:. For some reason it has all gotten very boring and quite frankly that’s a good thing in my case.

And dont start me about footwear! People look you up and down and check your footwear out! Gotta have the new air force 1's on or air jordans! Crazy!

People are getting bargains!!! shopping at macys getting Guess puffer jackets that were $US400 and now reduced to $US80. However go to the local kmart or target and get a similar jacket minus the logo/brand name for around 30 to 50 bucks.

    What ever floats your boat!

Over 2300 etfs over here from what i read in the wall street journal!

    @pippen

I admit to spending a bit more on the Hoka's

I was a New Balance kid up until I ran downhill in a pair of Hoka's
