Anyone have this and has any feedback?

If not this one, any other portable wood fired ones you can recommend? Thanks

We use a Victoria's Basement pizza stone pre-heated inside the Weber (200-220°C) - not to be confused with equally hot from Victoria's Secret catalogue

What capacity/how large an oven are you looking for? Also, how important is the portability factor? Will it only be for pizzas or do you forsee cooking some larger items too?

Because the options for pizza ovens are thru the roof atm, just that some are fit for smaller, one at a time type use and others are larger

    Hi @sanj

The portability factor is a must. Basically the capacity of the one in the link above. 2 pizzas at a time. The website says takes 2 to 4 minutes to cook. It's only for pizza as we're getting an outdoor bbq kitchen for everything else. Not exactly this setup but similar to the pic. Was thinking to get the one in the link above..just can't find many reviews..

I think that wood fire ovens are a little overrated, i.e. they look flash in fancy kitchens, but it's such a timely process that they end up being used once in a very long while as a show more than regular cooking (and they are so imprecise that result can be disappointing for regular cooks). We cook a lot, we bake a lot, we make our own yummy pizzas with our own starter, and we cook them in our oven at high temp. Our oven goes to 280 degrees celcius, that is just perfect for pizzas. But I understand a wood fire oven looks great, and just making the fire is fun.

The thing is we don't want to get an oven for the garden. So kinda has to be woodfire. I have had some woodfire pizzas at friend's places and I did enjoy it.

Our local woodfire pizzas cost $25. Delivered within 40mins. Never burned. Takes a lot of pizza before it makes sense to spend $4500k on a fossil fuel burning oven.

It makes sense. I believe it is for your home and not an investment, so I would recommend the way they are often built in South Europe with 2 levels: wood burns lower level, then a thick rock / tile / brick layer, and you cook on top. From what I have seen these things have to be built though, can't be bought plug and play. But it avoids a lot of burnt marks on whatever you cook and is more versatile as it can be used as a plancha too.

No kosher woodfire pizza exits in Sydney unfortunately.

    Ditto

Its takes the joy out of entertaining.

Stuck with making pizzas, and easy to burn crust

Stuff that, lucky if we use our pizza oven once per year…. Too much work

    Our local pizzas are amazing

Interested in what makes the oven kosher ? I guess you may say its been used to cook non-kosher ? eg bacon, even salt perhaps. No-kosher meats ? Kosher cheese etc

Waverley in Sydney seems to have a kosher and gluten free pizza and italian restaurant that delivers to a large jewish customer base. Mendy's - The Art of Italian Food - FAQs
The pizza menu seems limited by this issue. eg not your typical menu and they dont ädd toppings.

Try pizza stone in Weber and you will get 100% wood fired oven taste .. stone base socks up moisture and pizza are crispy just like from wood fired oven.

We recently did a massive landscaping makeover in our backyard (over $150k) and I researched all sorts of ovens and outdoor kitchens .. decided against it because nothing cooks better than a Weber and Weber don’t have outdoor kitchen range yet in Australia.

Yes mendys is kosher as well as Bondi pizza. But they both aren't woodfire.

As mentioned, it's not just the ingredients but also the utensils. Judaism is quite full on. Hence no one really converts and it greatly discourages those thinking of it for this very reason.

But besides all that, I want a pizza oven :)
