Just wondering where the Thornhill thread and the various shares threads ranks. And all the city specific threads.

Thornhill is a lowly 44 pages.

Wow, that Brisbane thread is really going.
Wonder how much influence it has, if any, on the market.

It's a roller coaster of a thread. In no particular order....
Hope. Disappointment. Disappointment. Hope. Hype hype hype. Disillusionment. Lost tenants. Vacancies. No high paying jobs. Apartment oversupplies. Rent cuts. Bad PMs. Hope. Will it boom? Yes. Glimmers of hope. Positive sentiments. Flooding and storms!!
Negativity. Will it boom? No. Despair. Worry. Fear. Positive news!! Jobs boom?! Hope. Subdued Positivity.....

    It runs the full gammut.

How good will it be when the thread is still going and people are gloating about their value rises. Bne is the tortoise and sydney is the hare. Bne will now start to overtake. The hate has started to get puffed

It's starting... Inner Brisbane houses. Most elsewhere its slowly, slowly. And I reckon you could well be right in your last few sentences...

Full borne gloating might be 2018? If APRA doesn't kill it.

    Cheers Simon!
LICs in #2 (who would have thunk it!!),
    Thornhill #15. Hehe. :)

Zero Melbourne and Victoria on the list but it's all just in smaller threads.

... keep in mind though that our policy for most of the period that SS operated was to lock threads that became too long due to performance issues with the forum software, so it's rare to see threads with more than 1,000 replies - most got locked before they reached that point.

That's no longer an issue with the software we use now, although I'm still generally not a fan of extremely long threads because they become unwieldy and difficult for new members to engage with. I'm more concerned with it becoming more clique-like than useful.

I was right in my recollection that Frankston was an ongoing investor topic

Apra will have more of an impact on Sydney/Mel than Brisbane. There are not that many investors here, nor foreign investment dollars..unlike the southern caps.
If anything, Apra could hit the southern more than Brisbane. This will be the case only if Brisbane jobs increase...if Brisbanr jibs are not growing, people will stay where they can get employment - and that's the Mexican cities.
You would think that there would be a fair few in Mexico that are so frustrated with house price growth greatly outpacing salary growth that they would be waiting to flip the bird to Mexican cities... If only there were jobs elsewhere...when the likes of tombstone, Queensland gets more jobs (has yo eventually), I think you will.see the migration at that time in more force..bringing along their pesos.

Looking simply at the way that threads in the "Where to Buy" forum are categorised (by state), here are the most talked about states (by post count) over the past 90 days, and since inception in June 2015:

Historically, QLD has generated the most discussion by a big margin - but it looks like recently, NSW is getting a lot of attention too. VIC discussion has picked up somewhat, as has WA, but SA discussion is down - not as much movement in the market there yet.

Interestingly, if we look at the same period last year (ie 90 days up to the 2nd May, 2016) ... the figures are quite different:

    upload_2017-5-2_23-41-10.png

The high number of uncategorised threads is a bit of a concern - I need to go back and clean up some of that I feel.

But with 44% of the discussion, QLD dominated back then.

I'll have to try and do month-by-month historic line charts of post volume comparing all the states. But not tonight.
