    Hello people,

I made a will about 10 years ago but got told other day if I have property in two states I need two wills?

I would have only had property in one state when I wrote the will.

    Is this correct?

    Thanks.

What did your drafting solicitor say ? A will should act to avoid variation between laws in various states if you die without a will that could contradict versus the state you die in. The Succession Act (of its equal in each state) will generally govern that a will made in a state (eg NSW) applies to interstate property. Check that with the solicitor and the will that was drafted to cater for all property.

You cant have two wills. The most recent prevails. eg "this is my last will and testament" acts to sever any prior will/s
