How effective it will be is dependent on what % of people in our country Download, is it 50%??

Not sure it will if we dont have the numbers

There are many reasons why covid-19 contact-tracing apps may not work

I'm sure I read today there are eight new cases in Victoria? So, I agree, this app might just be the thing to jump on new cases quickly.

And I still don't understand why people think it is more intrusive than say FB or the other social media sites.

seems like some members of society just like to proclaim their rights at every opportunity...

btw. I ve noticed the icon on my app as changed from a blue weird thing to a green australia icon with a tick through it

p.s does actually having this app and keeping a track of where an infected person has travelled, really have that much benefit overall??? seems like it just helps the statisticians and case studies....

If I come into contact with someone who tests positive, and I hear from the government that has happened, I'll get a test quickly, and it could save me spreading it around for up to two weeks before I realise I have it. I think it would be very useful if this virus starts spreading further.

My point about FB is that people post up the most incredible things about themselves, where they are holidaying, etc. There's nothing that I've put into the FB app to give much detail (false birthday, no address, no schools etc). But it seems some people who think this app is an invasion of privacy have so much more private information on many social sites, freely available to all and sundry.

In my friend list on fb, people my age are very aware of privacy issues and are not crazy to share their private stuff (also, it goes much further than just sharing your date of birth publicly). I found that it's usually my parents' generation who are the typical oversharers you're talking about - because they don't know what's the purpose of using facebook...

Younger generations are more tech savy and more aware of privacy issues.

It doesn't track your location, it tracks tour proximity to somebody else with the app. If somebody tests positive, they can check which people you've been close to.

I believe we are slowly nearing the Targeted 40% of phones having the app downloaded.

I thought we would easily do better than 40% given the huge public benefit but a great lesson in how people respond and act.

I downloaded it. But it doesn't seem to do anything.
Note - I use an iPhone.

What type of benefit do you think the app has had?

It won't do anything unless someone else with the app that you've been nearby for several minutes tests positive.

If that happens, you'll be notified and would get a test.

Something sneaky going on - especially on iPhones. For those that didn’t download it, on your iPhone, go to “settings -> privacy -> health”

let me know what options you see there. This is for only those that DIDN’T install the app.

Does it say Covid 19 exposure logging? have you recently updated to iOS 13.5? if yes, that's your answer
