Personally, to me, the elephant in the room is ...

"what is wrong with our culture that a woman, who has been the subject of unwanted and witnessed physical abuse, fears reporting it due to potential backlash against herself"

... but ... that is not the issue being discussed. Will the fallout from the Foley incident harm Labor's chances in the upcoming State election? I don't think it will - but sheesh - politics everywhere is a bit of a mess

The attack on Foley by the heir apparent may actually boost labor’s chance.
Their will be enormous media focus on the new OL and as a cleanskin he will have a honeymoon period that should take him to the next election.

yeah, maybe. I had thought labor would win it easily, but this certainly puts victory in doubt. NSW hasn't had particularly good leadership for ages, party change wont improve that I dont think.

I must live in a bubble when I read that labour was all but guaranteed victory.

5 months out from an election. Hmmm, it may be time to call a snap election whilst they're in disarray :D

Having seen how much the incumbents have spent on infrastructure, housing, schools, hospitals etc over the past few years and the next 5-10 year projections  What will Labor have to pull out of their kit to top it?

How can anyone vote for a party that treats women so badly?

Yes I think it will hurt not just labor but both major parties on a state and federal level with many people now flocking to the minor parties, which with our preferential system could make things uncertain.

It will depend how quickly Labor can close down the issue.
The Barnaby Joyce fiasco certainly took its toll.

Luke Foley is a state politician. I'm not sure that Barnaby Joyce's issues will have affected state politics.

Rumours had been around for some time before the matter became public
Inside the Luke Foley scandal, from that boozy Christmas party to the damning rumours

When I had a business, boozy Christmas parties and inappropriate behaviour were highlighted in training materials as areas of concern. But parliament doesn't have the same level of training as a multinational franchise organisation.

Pollies are great in foisting legislation upon the masses but they enjoy the political freedoms to enable free thought without fear of persecution. Many instances come to mind like bullying, alcohol in the workplace, parliamentary privilege etc. Their behaviour at times is absolutely appalling and would never be tolerated in a boardroom or lunchroom - many would be spending a lot of time being counselled by the EEO officer and put on multiple warnings. Hard to believe considering many have come from solid legal or industry backgrounds but will simply put up with it and accept it as part of being in parliament.
