    hi there

Can I drop into the council and have a meaningful discussions with them about development prospects of a property I intend to buy ?
    It’s in Suburban Melbourne

It’s at a preliminary stage and only tentative drawings have been developed by the seller

Will the council entertain me ?
Or I need to be accompanied by a town planner or architect?

    Cheers

Hi James, I have found dealing with my local council here (Bega Valley) they are helpful to a point but for any sort of meaningful determination or a formal position would need to be an official DA or relevant form. I would say talking to a town planer/surveyor would be a good port of call also.

    Good luck,
    Mick

    Hi Mick

I obviously don’t want them to commit anything
Just a chat on what’s possible and what’s not on the plot in the general sense

Tufan has always tried to help me out whenever I have approached him

    Cheers

A council TP wont commit to much to avoid giving advice. If you want to ask basis they will see you as a time waster and they arent there to educate you or guide you working out how to use the land. A paid TP will likely understand councils approach and what you might get away with by pushing it.
