I'm thinking yes they will. Maybe part out of curiosity to start with, but what a spectacle!
The Adelaide Oval can hold over 50,000 people nowadays and Victoria has proved aussie rules fans will watch other sporting showpieces (eg SOO, euro soccer teams) when given the opportunity. I'm kinda pleased South Australians will have this opportunity now. Good promotion, good tourism.
What do the locals think ?

Absolutely. There's plenty of rugby league fans here, and I think we have had 20-25k people at a couple of regular season games here in the past few years, which unfortunate don't get a lot of advertising over here.

It will sell out just as quick as any other SOO game I think.

I like how the Minister never publicly addresses how much they pay for these events, or should i say the taxpayer, and if Labors history of mismanagement is anything to go by, they will be lining someone elses coffers to the maximum.Personally, i dont think we need it, only a handfull here would know the rules of the game.

I'll be there, it will be a hit. As long as we get game 1 or 2 as planned it will be a massive crowd.

Nope. Rugby league popularity is declining everywhere else, why would a state with no teams be interested?

    Cheers,

    LOL @ League.

I don't know why AFL, League, Rugby call their games football when they all use their hands heavily. True football is the one where the rest of the world plays, minus USA.

AFL.....the game where you get a consolation point for missing the goal!

In all seriousness - why the negativity? Why not just embrace a different sport for the masses to just go watch? It will bring fresh money from the die hard fans who will follow their team there, and allow SA to showcase what they have to offer.

    Because League sucks? :p :D

I don't mind a bit of Union once ever 4 years.

I did really enjoy the Rugby 7's at the Rio Olympics though!
