hi we t DINK couple, couple earring 250k annually. We are currently renting.
We bough an old house in Dec 2017 and put it out to rent from March 2019 (we lived in that house 15 months).
March 2019 to June 2019 renting the property will be at an expense of approx $4000. We are expecting to use negative gearing in July for tax purposes. If Labor wins, will be able to claim negative gearing for this house in 2020 tax return too?

Things are still not clear for me so pls explain a bit.

Labour has said that their proposal will be effective from 1/01/2020 and existing gearing will be grandfathered, so it won't have a direct effect on the property you've purchased.

As long as your investment property is still exactly that and not your primary residence by January, you’ll be grandfathered and get to milk NG. Dunno about 50% CGT. Anyone know if this’ll be grandfathered?

Pretty sure CGT & Neg gearing are both grandfathered in current policy design.

Not sure about CGT impact, but OTP is not impacted by neg gearing changes (new dwellings).

How about the PPOR that you are currently living in?
Assuming that we move out before 1 Jan 20 and rent it out

That's an unknown. Disappointing there's been no further details with voting starting in 12 hours.
The articles I've seen mention that if a property is already an investment property and negatively geared then grandfathering applies. *shrug*
