As independent buyers' agents, we often get asked the question
"Why shouldn't I use a (selling) agent to bid for me at auction? After all, they said they'd do it for free and you're going to charge me"

I think this recent blog by a high profile Sydney selling agent answers it all really.... I have removed her personal details for identification purposes however it goes to demonstrate the importance of engaging an advocate who is on YOUR side, as buyer, rather than the vendor's agent (whose interests are obviously in direct conflict as they are being paid by the vendor) Nothing more to say here really....

    That's sickening to read.

Not sure why this person's right to privacy overrides other peoples right to know the truth to avoid being taken advantage of.

In any case, thanks for posting it for educational purposes.

Why would anyone put that on a blog? That's crazy (and quite disgusting).

Can someone PM her name and contact details please.

I might be selling a property at auction next year. I could use a firm like that as selling agent :) :).

Looks like she has put it out in her weekly property report to her database, so open slather regarding privacy I'd say.

Very disrespectful behavour to her "client". As @Cactus and @kierank point out, she's hoping for people to give her a property to sell.

It's publicly posted information. There is no expectation of privacy.

    Wow.

Am I wrong to start thinking that any assumption that a big chain is less likely to engage in dodgy behaviour for the sake of avoiding their name being tarnished is a very incorrect assumption when it comes to real estate agencies?

That's interesting... I just spoke to another agent earlier in the week about a property in strathfield. This agent said the only chance I had of securing a property around the low $2m was to find a property that was being sold by an out of area agent who had no idea.

She gave me an example of a "low price"
1 Howard Street, Strathfield, NSW 2135 - Property Details
    ($2.24m)

That property was sold by Irene panas. Looks like she's isn't as good as she makes herself sound.

As a comparison, another house in strathfield (350sqm) was sold for $2.31m at auction this morning - though this was 1.2km from the station.

    Definitely an incorrect assumption.

Ugh...I'm sickened. Ive got no respect for people that ever refer to anybody else as 'easy', no matter what the context.

The sad part is people are still stupid enough to believe this fruit loop is going to work for them!
