    And you never found out about the huge house parties. lol.

    We used to rearrange the furniture to cover damaged walls.

    I figure if my kids have epic house parties when I'm away and I dont find out, it never happened...

    Amen.

    Some acquaintances bulk when they know what I pay in rent.

    However pre-covid, rent was barely 10% of my income (and dropping as business grew), whilst their rent was 30-40% of their take home pay.

    It's all relative.

    Unfortunately it's a different story post-covid.
    I'm finding a lot of close friends with businesses are struggling to adjust lifestyle expectations.

    And to be honest, so am I.

    The next few years are going to be painful, especially for the middle-class in Australia.

    Of course we are better off than a great majority of the rest of the world. Yet many in my generation have only known the good times, and don't have any scalable skills.

    For an average couple. When 1 partner looses their job. That's a 50% drop in income. There isn't much you can cut to try to compensate for that.
