Most of the sideboards/buffets online are only 70-80cm max in height, which is is 10cm too low. Could be wrong but the std height of a vanity or kitchen bench is 90cm??

If you are putting basins on top of the buffet then it's about the right height so the top of the basin is then around 900-950mm off the ground. If I'm doing basins on cabinetry then I reduce the height of the vanity to compensate.

Depends on the height of the buffet ... I like my bench heights to be around 1m ... so if the top of the basin is anywhere up to 1.2 then I'm good

We did something similar. We wanted a shaker style cabinet which were all quite expensive. We bought a sideboard for much less and put the plumbing up the middle. We will lose use of the middle top drawer, but that's fine.

Ended up buying two of these (very handsomely discounted too). The builder will cut the second one down by 10cm to fit the ensuite for my beachside house :D

Will put a plain white bowl on top, with chrome spout/mixer off the wall

Black spout would look good with that.

Did black in the last "country" house, on 12 acres ... being beachside for this build, I'm going for a lighter look

We are doing brushed finish for our build - a bit of a softer finish than chrome.
