It could just be made a part of the terms and conditions of the forum that any opinion posted in the member viewable area (ie not over PM) is to be taken as personal opinion or general view only and is not in any way legal advice.

It has to be in the right context. Good to know you can use a dictionary and taking your own advice what a trooper:p

We are world's second when it comes litigation, US is number 1. Surprising.

I think on forums there are more concerns with regards defamation.

There was a case hotcropper ? (share forum) where I think it was a forum member got sued, costly exercise for defaming, you don't even have to mention their real name, can be user name... Of course if what you have written is truth then its a different story.

Even though you can squash some people like a bug, it's more powerful to ignore them because they actually don't matter.

I would rather focus my energy being around people I resonate with than chasing some loser through court because they said the wrong thing.

I followed the advice from a forum poster and it didn't turn out well. Who do I blame? Me! It was my money and my decision. Why should I blame someone else? Illogical. Still, I didn't actually lose money and it has made me a better investor, so maybe I should pay the person who gave the bad advice? ;)

    True
But I think the hotcropper case the person got awarded 200k, ?if it's proven that negative comments will impact on someone's business

Moral of the story to trollers beware, you may think it's fun but you may need deep pockets ots also breaking forum rules

Sim one issue on this site is many put something in their signatures saying not advice but then at a later date when they change the signature it changes all the existing post signatures too.

E.g. sometimes i might want to remove my disclaimer so i can fit something extra into the signature block and that would remove the disclaimer on all 10k posts i have written.

The flip side to that is that if you want to improve your disclaimer - you can change it on all 10k+ posts at once :D

    Here's some advice:-

    Don't break the law.

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer and don't have any legal experience of any kind.except when I got booked a few times and stuff, which was S H 1 Thompson.

And apparently Improper Use of Horn is offence in NSW that carries a $314 fine.

    Who would know?

Maybe them cops should've realised that the light was <Word That Rhymes With Fire Truck>-ing GREEN!

Can all members (inc paid/non paid) have an option for a generic general advice disclaimer. this will cover propertychat, as much as the individual.
