In a previous post I talked about how I was able to create short to mid term capital growth by targeting areas going under gentrification.

Typically I looked to where the following 3 sectors were injecting capital -

    1/ State/Federal Government.

2/ Big Multi National Retail & Commercial type companies.

    3/ Private People/Investors.

With the above in mind I believe the following link may provide you with a good starting point for possible further research in the Melbourne Metropolitan Area.

I was surprised it took so long to discuss Melbourne on SS. Need to be very selective now.

The horse is grazing in the Langwarrin paddocks near Franga.

I think that's because the yields are pretty poor
Just doesn't fit many on SS strategy - buy 10 properties!
Was about to buy in melbourne. Got made redundant - spewing

Ringwood is quite a large suburb with the questionable reputation in the past. Which pockets there are better than others?

Anyone who has been playing/watching the Melb market will probably know this, or with a little luck already purchased.

According to Dr Andrew Wilson, Economist, Domaine Group, Eastern suburbs have been the strongest players, but growth elsewhere has been average or modest

Across Melbourne, only the inner east, inner city and outer east have registered double-digit growth in the year to March.

I expect we will still see continued growth, unless a disaster occurs, perhaps China tanks, never.....

More like there are bugger-all folks from Melb on this site. SS was the same.

I don't see a lot of Melbournites on here actually! Anyone bought in any ugly ducklings surrounding Ringwood, with stories to tell?

I read an article regarding 98000 jobs being lost in Melbourne by 2016 from car manufacturers closing shop. Anyone have any more info about that?

I actually work at the shopping centre in Ringwood(Eastlands)and the final stages of the $600,000,000 upgrade to the centre are well under way with completion flagged for November this year.

No doubt that this expansion will have positive effect within the area with job growth etc..

I'm quite keen on getting into Melbourne. Reason. Population growth, and to diversify out of Qld (first foray into interstate). Brisbane is the go to city of the moment, but will it see the rapid growth people are banking on? That's the multi million dollar question. Yes I'm a rookie, but Brissie is getting smashed by Southern Investors at the moment and has been for many months now. Reaching fever pitch. My brother in law just sold his house in Stafford 3 days on the market to an investor from Melbourne who had bought 4 others in the area that week alone on a buying spree. Sustainable?

    Hello All,

There still suburbs in Melbourne out there that have the potential for capital growth.
Just keep you eyes open and do some research!!!.
