I couldn't sleep last night. Really concerned kennedy is going to choke big time next week. Simpson should consider dropping him to save the embarrassment.

The Freo game was not a sell out last night. I checked at 6pm and there were still tickets available on the main Ticketmaster site at $78 each. (And I do not mean the resales). Eagles has been sold out for days.

I will vote after the premiership has been played and decided; a good five days before the poll closes.

    :D

Curiously, for all the Perth PCers, which side of Perth goes for Weagles and which part of Perth go for Freos? Is it like say it is separated by the river?

What's happening with West Coast? They keep missing goals.

West coast was in the league some 15 yrs before freo and had far superior membership quantity. Its not geographically set - freos supporters are those who wanted a new choice or are new to football in general

Oh OK, similar to Crows and Power then, except that Crows supporters hated Power as it used to be Port Adelaide Magpies side.

Yea I've noticed in Adelaide. I know more crows supporters than port ones and they all hate each other. When I lived in WA, those ones are different and tolerate each other.

That's because it went back to SANFL days in the 80s (and they played quality football too) when Port Adelaide Magpies dominated the scene, and every other SANFL club supporters hates Port. So when Port tried to flee SANFL and join V/AFL in the 80s it was a big controversy, SANFL then decided to form Adelaide Crows. So every other SANFL club supporters goes for the Crows and hated the Power since.

I go for Glenelg Tigers so I am a Crows fan personally. Swannies and Giants are my adopted sides, then the Power.

It's going to be tough for North to win now. 4 goals down with only 1 quarter to go. Can't afford to let West Coast score anymore. Come on Kangaroos!!!

That was a bloody unconvincing win. How many free kicks do you want to give west coast? Poke your tongue at a west coast player and it's a free kick!

    We win, we win.

    We lose, we win.

This season is already a gloriously unexpected, even unimagined success. And it's particularly pleasing considering the critique, and in some quarters the downright snide attitude shown the Eagles the past two years. Had the Grand Finalists been Hawthorn and Fremantle, or Hawthorn and Sydney, no one would have been surprised. It would have been "business as usual". And that, in some ways, would have made it harder, more emotionally damaging for the losing side. But for us? We made the Grand Final!! Even if we lose, it's a win.

I desperately want us to succeed next Saturday. It really would be a fairytale. But I'm OK if we don't. I'm OK if the clinical, unsociable, relentlessly drilled, talented and professional Hawks prevail. Because we made the Grand Final!!

We've made the comp sit up and pay attention. We've made the media pundits analyse our game and pick us apart. We've made the commentators create names for our tactics. We've made the opposition react to our brand. We've made our fans happy. So very very happy, and proud.

One can never be sure about these things, but to me this season is the start of a dynasty. Last night our team won more Brownlow votes than any other team. Last night our boy came a close second to the winner roundly acknowledged the best Brownlow medalist in years. We have a Coleman Medal winner, a Brownlow Medal winner, and a Ross Glendinning Medal winner in our starting 22. We have jointly the most All Australians in our team, with many saying we were unlucky not to have one or two more. And our team is young. And hungry. We have a miserly defence, built from adversity but performing beautifully. And our strong forward line is one of the most potent in the comp. We have two elite ruckmen (arguably the best or joint best main ruckman, who regardless of "stats" hugely influences games) and a young ruck/forward with less than 30 games running proud against other teams number ones. Our team make-up is in the sweet-spot for the next few years, with the perfect mix of talent, experience, youth and fitness. And we made the Grand Final!!

And that's just our starting 22. Waiting in the wings, ready to pounce are two elite backmen (one of them an All Australian), prodigious young talent like Tom Lamb, Liam Duggan, Simon Tunbridge... Even our third choice ruckman pushed the Hawks this year in his only appearance and be a walkup starter in most other teams. Players who will desperately push for selection next year. And the year after that.

And we made the Grand Final!!

Yep... our Premiership window isn't ajar. Our Premiership window isn't just opening. Our Premiership window isn't banging and swinging in the breeze. We've completely smashed it and, like an Eagle feather-clad home invader, are aggressively clambering through...

And, my friends, my fellow blue and gold travellers... we made the Grand Final.

I think west coast is a big Chace to beat Hawthorn. The only worrying stat is that they've only seen the MCG once this year. However the coach knows Hawthorn and it's game plan.
