Adelaide were disappointing last night. I expected the game was going to be a lot closer but it was virtually over by quarter time.

    Come on North Melbourne!!!

As much as I'd like to see a Kangaroos GF, I think it'll be another ho-hum Hawks V WC or Freo GF.

A good arvo to play golf.

    Dockers Conspiracy Theory
    (copied from another forum)

    ---

If there’s one thing almost everyone outside of Freo can agree on, it’s that the Dockers are terrible.

Freo tried their best to be merely above average this year, yet they have unwittingly finished on top of the table and earned a home preliminary final.

It’s almost as if they are fulfilling some sort of prophecy, and the Football Gods have decided that 2015 will be the Year of the Docker…no matter how hard Freo try to mess it up.

Like you, I used to see things differently - the idea of an omnipotent being manipulating results of football games is ridiculous!

Until I remembered that the Bombers beat Hawthorn this year.

But there is so much more to this mystery, and you can see it ripping at the fabric of reality. So how have the Dockers come this far?

    • Hawthorn
I used to be confused when people referred to Hawthorn as “the GOAT”, but it all made sense when I remembered that a goat is a satanic symbol.

If the Gods were to manufacture a Freo premiership, they knew they had a lot of work to undo this dark magic.

Inflicting random bouts of sucking didn’t work as well as expected - and the public saw through charade - refusing to rate the Hawks as anything but flag favourites.

This ruled out the option of Fremantle defeating Hawthorn at the MGC in a Grand Final - no-one has that much power, and if the gods succeeded, the glitch in the matrix would be obvious.

Instead, the Gods worked on setting up a Prelim between the sides at Subiaco. On WA soil, where Hawthorn's powers are at their weakest, Fremantle could eliminate the Hawks while leaving the public none the wiser.

They would probably put it down to "travel" or something ridiculous like that.

So who should the Dockers beat in the final stage of this grand plan? It doesn’t really matter as long as it’s believable, so why not make it the…

    • West Coast Eagles
    You know, for the lols?

How else can you explain their form this year?

Even at the Preliminary Finals stage, you know you can’t shake that nagging doubt about the Eagles being contenders.

And given Freo has a 15-4 record in Derbies since 2006, the Gods know few would question another Freo derby win on Grand Final day.

But to get the Eagles to the grannie, they inadvertently created a monster of a side. As their percentage rose to a point that would break squiggle, or even Hawthorn levels, the Gods had to carefully intervene.

But how could they keep the Eagles behind the Dockers while preventing the Hawks from rising into the top 2? The solution was genius.

    • The Draw at Metricon
With the public looking for any reason to write the Eagles off, the Gods didn’t bother to resurrect their Son from the dead for this encounter.

Consider for a moment, where we would be right now if the Eagles defeated Gold Coast.

With an extra 2 points, the Eagles finish first and Freo are thrown into a Qualifying Final against the Hawks - putting Freo on a collision course to face them twice in a finals series, including a GF at the MCG! Like they say, fool the public once...

If the Eagles lose, the Hawks finish second with their superior percentage. Not even the gods can make the Hawks lose a final at the MCG, assuring them a third straight flag.

But Freo needed more than just one miracle to save them this year.

    • Bachar Houli
Obviously Bachar Houli knows that you don’t kick to a 3 on 1 when trailing by 2 points with a minute to go.

If he kicks out to literally anywhere else, the Dockers lose to the Tigers and fall from top spot.

But the Gods weren’t done with the Tigers. After a head-scratching loss, a completely different Richmond come out the next week to embarrass Hawthorn, just as the Hawks were finding their best form.

But the public doesn’t bat an eye - Richmond are just “too inconsistent”.

Not convinced? Turn your attention to this year’s sacrificial lamb.

    • Port Adelaide
For Freo to make a run at the flag, the Gods had to quickly deal with a young and talented Port Adelaide juggernaut.

This season, Port played the vital role of becoming bad enough to be forgotten about, but still good enough to beat Hawthorn twice to keep them from the top 2. How convenient for Freo!

But this manipulation goes way back to last year’s Semi-Final between Port and Freo.

For Freo to win this year, they had to lose that fateful Semi - something they almost messed up after accidentally leading for most of the game.

When the draw came out that October, Port are handed the deadly double against Hawthorn and Sydney.

Conversely, Freo have it easy with doubles against the losing preliminary finalists; Port Adelaide (who were predetermined to be awful) and North Melbourne (who exist only to play the role of “Non-Threatening Finals Side”).

    Speaking of non-threatening…

    • Sydney
Under normal circumstances, Sydney are a threat.

But each year, the Gods are allowed to decimate one team with injury without raising too much suspicion.

Just to make the result a sure thing, Sam Reid’s hamstring was sacrificed halfway through the contest. Yet foolishly, the Swans pushed their luck.

Thankfully, instead of sniping off more Sydney players, the Gods were merciful and turned their attention to inaccurate kicking.

Suddenly, Sydney forget that the big posts are the goals - kicking 7.18 to lose by 9.

On the drive home from Subi, the radio stations are confused. Sydney are applauded for a great performance yet somehow Freo advance while continuing to be terrible.

Everyone can see that something isn’t right, but they can’t put their finger on it.

Put simply - it’s time to accept the reality that the Dockers are your new AFL overlords.

In two weeks we will avenge decades of PAIN AND SUFFERING at the hands of those ARROGANT and GLOATING Eagle JERKS. I can only imagine the look on their faces as a sea of purple confetti fills the MGC and gets all caught up in Nat Fyfes hair in a super manly way.

But Eagles fans are so self-centred, they will probably think they are the chosen ones!

It’s just like their stupid “The West Is Ours” slogan. It’s so arrogant and dismissive of Fremantle that only an idiot would approve it - unless they knew it was acting as some kind of...prophesy.

And that they are actually….the chosen ones.

And that the Dockers were only good this year to build up the hopes of their fans before crushing like their hearts have never been crushed before!

The PTSD in their ranks would be rife. Doctors advise that Purple is bad for your health as fans give up on on Football to follow the Scorchers - just so they know what it's like to feel happy again.

Leaving the whole of WA to be...West Coast's.

    You know…for the lols.

    Sniff sniff ...

Too many injuries ... Sigh ...

Hard to look past hawthorn , despite weagles beating them , though it would be nice for Freo to win , just so it shuts them up for a while , and they do have the best player in the comp at the moment . Reminds me of Goodes at his prime , though he did win one of his brownlows playing ruck and I don't think Nate has had a season as a ruckman . He probably could do it , but if you have Sandilands ...

Only think that won't have me chearing for Freo , and now has them replaced as most dislike team was their booing of Goodes . How could I support a team supported by racist bigots ... . That even makes Collingwood seem OK .... Oops , at Collingwood they're 13 . . At Freo they just behave like they're 13 .

Go north queensland . Would nice for Thurston to win a premiership :D

I'm going for the under dogs this weekend. Hawks and Kangaroos. Hawks have a lot more chance of pulling an upset but it would be magnificent to see the Kangaroos back in th Grand Final.

Hawks for an upset? They are clear favourites and rightly so, they will make it 4 grand finals in a row and west coast will take it right up them in the big one.

P.s I hope north get done by 100 points this weekend

Hawthorn should be the underdogs. Being favourites at the TAB just reflects larger Melbourne population and not the true picture. At $2.35 Freo offer great value for a team that finished top and having home advantage. Hawthorn haven't won an interstate final since 2001. Much of their recent dominance hasn't involved travel...at all. Freo by 25 points.

Let's go with Animal symbols. Kangaroos are cute, but not really though. Eagles are stronger bird than Hawks and poor Freemantle does not have afford to have symbolic animal at all... So I have to go with Eagles ;)

@D.T. thought you'd like to know i had a dream this bloke last night. He kicked 11.4, laid 7 tackles and got reported for head high contact all in the preliminary final against north. I woke up in disgust.

Of all the teams still in the comp, I don't mind Freo winning their first premiership. They still haven't got one in their cabinet yet.
