No, never really knew what I wanted to do. Well, I wanted to be a vet but that wasn't going to happen (not sorry now). Just knew what I was good at. Didn't come to me until I was travelling in the late 80's early 90's. It was in an old Lady's beautiful flat in St John's Wood, London - she was 101 years old and a friend and I were her live-in carers. I was about 22 and had just finished uni. I had no idea what I wanted to do.

It's not a bed of roses by any means but it gets me out of bed in the morning, without fail.

Thank you Harry. Its not something I would have done straight out of school, but now that I'm older, I'll do as I damn well please

Wow, great story. Sounds demanding and competitive. Does not really matter, but sounds like consulting type work or training and business coaching within corporates. People can often find satisfying jobs quite a mix of a real Adrenalin drive yet at the same time sometimes a little draining and exhausting (like all good jobs I guess). My job has that mix as well. Thanks again for sharing.

    Thanks for asking.
How did you fall into your line of work? And would you still go in if you didn't have to?

Got back from overseas stone broke after backpacking. This followed 5 years at university. Rang agency from airport to get temp work, and was offered 2 weeks temp work at an Major Corporate. 25 years later, I am still there.

Fell on your feet. And still ok with it?

I currently teach migrants - mainly refugees. Started off teaching international students of all ages. Have also taught literacy (Parkes). Been going 24 years now.

Er, I love my job too. I teach high school students who have various disabilities. The pay is appalling but the emotional reward is what it's all about. I repaint houses when I get bored during the holidays. Mr Angel wanted to retire, sell up and go bush earlier this year, but I'm not ready to leave my job yet. Ask me again in two years' time.

I wake up 8am , out to a cafe by 9am on most mornings ( with another PC bum) and enjoy an extended coffee chat . Discuss local real estate. Visit opens on occasion . Open PC to read the latest goss. Check in with council, town planners, builders on projects . Visit parents who live 2 streets away. Back to PC to annoy some regulars . Lunch at local veggie joint . Back home to watch some Cobra Kai series . More PC browsing . Take a drive with friends around the neighborhood looking at new builds .

Yeah I love my work .

Can't say that I miss the daily grind. I saw my director for the first time in 6 months yesterday, haven't seen my other colleagues in just as long. We use technology to the max to run the business .

I deal with a range of organisations wielding alot of influence over some of the most hated groups in industry.

These jobs wouldn't exist if that industry was not self-regulated (it doesn't work well) - standing up for our clients who are in a comparatively weak position compared to what the industry wants them to believe.

This work is so far removed from my training but draws on my skill & industry knowledge. The depth understanding of the industry, the deals, adaption to an unstable environment but it is the wins which are all important.

I would turn up to work but I would cut back to 4 days a week and retire in a couple of years.

Best job I have ever had :D.

Love Queensland, hence lots of sunshine.

Don’t like Canberra and Melbourne as much, hence ...
