I spent about six months in Tennant Creek in the late 1970's working on the Hospital ..The English contractor would pick up the trades people up at the airport then drop you off at the Aboriginal settlement a klm's out of town and say this is where you will be staying ,just leave you there with your toolbox and bag and drive away..I had a few packets of smokes and a bottle of rum ,those 2 item maybe saved my life.
    .
A few hours later he would come back and pick you up and book you into the Hotel ,one of the wildest town I have ever been in,but it was 4 times the wages of working in Brisbane..

Speak for yourself mate. I have travelled within Australia many more times than I have been overseas. I have lived in South Australia, Northern Territory, Victoria and Western Australia. I have holidayed in every state except Tasmania.

There is a lot to see and do in Australia. I have gone backpacking at Kabarri, hiking the Hysen Trail, caving in the Nullabor, skiing at Bulla, climbed Ayers Rock... twice. And heaps more.

To answer your original question, I have lived in the central desert. I didn't love it but there was a lot to see.

Correct. Largest lake by surface area is Caspian Sea which has the greatest surface area of any lake at 143,200 square miles (370,886 square kilometers).

Largest Lake in the World - Largest in the United States

What’s lake eyre when full. 10,000sqm maybe?
Like 2.5% the size. And let’s not start with volume. The Caspian is nearly 1,000m deep in some parts.
    What’s lake eyre. 3m maybe?

Spent most of my early childhood on a farm in the Mid North of SA - the nearest town was 270 odd people. It was good in terms of having the freedom to do whatever you like without worrying, compared to living in the city. Not so great as a teenager/adult however - limited if any career opportunity unless you own a farm, so most young people leave to live in Adelaide.
