Who do you listen to with regards to investing?? property, shares etc.

So much conflicting advice, information, so many choices to make, can easily take the wrong turn and could cost you money and worse time you cant get back.

Before I listen to anyone, I need to see results and need to know they know what they are talking about.

I have followed at least one idiot in the past:p, but moved on very quickly and with minimum pain thankfully and offloaded the lemon:)

    MTR:)

I listen to family and friends who are successful in their own fields (work, business, sport, and family). From their success i'll take snippets that can help me get to where I want to go.

Ok I will behave and answer the question.

    I listen to everyone.

I like to listen to a wide range of view points, opinions and strategies and gain a conceptual understanding of a given area.

Only then can you be ready to make descisions.

People having different view points to me have never bothered me because I don't require anyone's validation or permission for anything - ever!

People that need to put other people down for thinking differently or need to justify their view points before they do them are not quite sure what they are doing.

People Who blindly follow someone else's strategy without thinking and need to blame others for having done the wrong thing, we're not really looking for advice or knowledge they wanted to just be saved!

I always try to seek advice from people who have focused on and achieved success in a particular area of investment, if that's the current area I am looking at. If I were to invest in Perth and my chosen strategy was development, then I would be engaging with all the people who I think are 'experts' in Perth developments and the Perth market. I have the same approach for each project. I think there are always groups of people who have more experience and specialised knowledge in particular areas of investment- and depending on the project i'm undertaking, it's those people's mentorship I value the most.

    1. myself based on my own research
    2. my partner who has been around longer than me
    3. selected forumites who I trust (especially when they said it was time to deleverage)
    4. to a small extent, some real estate agents backed up by on the ground verification. Without secondary verification, I treat what they say with scepticism

I don't pay any attention to media attention seekers, spruikers, experts, gurus, magicians or medians. If I want to get the feel for a market segment, I hit the home opens.

I have a particular friend who has a very nice property portfolio who I trust.

For some reason I was expecting this to be a music thread.

    All of the above

I actually find that real estate agents can be brilliant, especially those with experience/knowledge as they can give you so much information that you wont find on a forum or a newspaper/media.
