Thats one of the reasons why I like the Dewalt tool range.
You can run the flexvolt which is 54v (for some reason i thought it was 36v) which gives plenty of power. You have the 6ah battery (which when running in 54v mode gives 2ah) or the 9ah (which gives 3ah in 54v mode).

Those batteries can then be used in the normal 18v range which last heaps long. Best way is to have 2x 54v 6ah/9ah batteries which you can change over. The whipper snipper also has a speed setting (similar to the dyson cordless vacuums) to allow you to run slower to conserve battery life when you're doing things that don't as much power such as edging.

Depending on how urgently you need it, Dewalt (and also Sydney Tools) runs promos where free batteries are given.

Last sale i picked up the top end whipper snipper with a 9ah battery for $400. Roughly the same price as a Honda 4 stroke whipper snipper.
