Hi guys, we are building our next OO house and I am trying to decide on a kitchen appliance brand for oven and induction cooktop.

We will definitely be going for the latest sleek touch screen appliances that are out now. I am thinking ahead in terms of buyer expectation and desirability for resale in the future. With hubby being a building designer and builder; and my interest in interior design and styling we generally sell our OO homes between 2-4 years, cash in on profits and move onto the next exciting passion project.

This house will be 1M+ so I know I need go with a European brand. Not necessarily better but people's perceptions are that they are.

Which of the following brands do you think people perceive as higher value? Tell me your top 3 in order.

    - Asko
    - Bosch
    - ILVE
    - Miele
    - Siemens
    - Smeg

    Thank you muchly.

Anything German is usually top notch so Bosch would be my pick!

Gaggenau is my pick for high end appliances. They're expensive however they are top end. I wouldn't use anything else for my high end homes ($1m+ builds).

I've used Bosch and Smeg which are also good. Either way you've picked a good list of appliance brands.

We have Siemens appliances in our house and they are fantastic. They own Bosch but we found the Siemens models had the extra wow factor and build quality.

We just built. Went Bosch as it is great quality and in the mid range, not high end price point. Only thing not Bosch in the kitchen is our Schweigen range hood which is amazing and well worth the money.

Another Bosch person here. But my thoughts are that Miele is the name perceived to be top notch. Gaggenau must be for the ultra elite.

Any of those except smeg, which is overpriced junk that just trades off its supposed snob factor

Yeah Siemens was what I started off thinking but most people in Canberra haven't heard of it even though it is the higher end cousin to Bosch. Probably because nobody stocks it here.

Thanks guys. I must say I was expecting everyone to say Miele so this has been great because Bosch is half the price so I might not need to spend the extra $$$ if they are perceived as equally desirable.

Ever since 'Red Dwarf, I haven’t been able to take 'Smeg' seriously.

I have all Miele. Oven (self cleaning :), built in microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. So pleased with it all.

Smeg is overrated in my opinion.
Know someone who had multiple issues with theirs.

I notice a pattern emerging on the forum: we go for sensibly priced quality.
