In view of what Australia has been through with the heat, the fires and now the virus, has all this made you think about what how you may respond in terms of where you might move to. One guy I was talking to was thinking of selling his 3 million $ home in Sydney and relocating to Adelaide for 600k and investing the rest so he could be financially free from economic shocks and have better general well being and lifestyle. There are quite few Sydney people that want out but finding it hard to convince their family and friends to make such a move. If you live in Sydney fir example how far would you prepare move?

Love where I live in Sydney except for the traffic at times. No virus is gonna chase me away. They'll always be events which will impact our lives. You can't keep running away.

    This too shall pass.

I moved Sydney to GC just over 2 years ago, one of the best decisions my wife and I have made.

Our townhouse in Northmead with it's 7X9 metre back yard went for similar money to what we paid up here for a freshly reno'd house with a granny flat, pool, beautiful garden, 400 metre walk to Pac Fair and 900 Metre walk to the beach.

I loved all the 29 years I lived in Sydney (moved there from the UK in 1989) but I love that I live here now.

I know you can't get from NSW into Queensland right now, but is that the same going the other way? Could someone drive into NSW if they had to?

I did google, but it didn't seem very clear to me.

Nowhere (well almost). Beach suburb in Adelaide and life is good (as good as it can be in the current conditions).

If I was a little wealthier I would own a house a suburb or two over in a more elevated position with incredible views over the water for under <$1m.

If I lived in Sydney with local family and friends it would be a difficult decision to make (moving interstate) based only on property prices.

My plan still invovles leaving Sydney at some point in time.
Close to the beach on a couple of acres, within a 30 minute drive of the nearest supermarket and ideally within 3 hours from Sydney.
But we'll see how we go on that wish list.

I am pretty content here in Yamba, and have been for 35 + years.
Just recently, due to the virus, the local caravan parks have been cleared of all tourists.;)
You can really notice the difference even in a relatively small town like here. Very few vehicles on the streets and limited foot traffic as well. Local businesses will be hurting big time!
I have no desire whatsoever to either reside or visit any city in the world. To me, they are nothing more than clogged up messes.

Pretty happy in Darwin. Can walk to the city, the beach, work. Have a spa, beaut deck and very little debt.

    I feel very, very lucky.

Due to more and more grey nomads hitting the road, Yamba now has a constant stream of visitors pretty much year round. Over the school holiday periods the population swells greatly.
With the restrictions now in place, the next school holidays (coming up shortly) will be dramatically different to those of the recent past. If required, I may be able to get a park out the front of a shop!

I’m thinking Adelaide, Launceston or Wanaka NZ as options .

We could always petition state government to keep the borders closed when this pandemic has passed on by ;).

Hopefully, one of the major parties will have the above as part of their election platform by October .

If they do, they will get my vote :D.

Yep. Between Monaco Street Broadbeach and Point Danger. This @kierank fella might slip in on my border recommendations though :D
