I'd live where I live right now, which is St Kilda.

Wouldn't even consider living anywhere else.

This is a tough one. Some leading contenders include mt druitt, caboolture, woodridge etc.

Either Perth or Adelaide's beach front suburbs. Melbournes weather sucks, Brisbane has no beaches and Sydney is too hectic. The other cities are too small.

Lightning Ridge, for the freedom to do what you want, or near a Sydney beach

Probably somewhere like Port Macquarie - climate and beaches.

I live in Dromana - and love it - other than our weather....very short and very changeable weather in summer, and very long cold winters (yes; we don't have snow so it's not super cold, but you get what I mean).

How about Macquarie Island , that's part of Australia ?

I think Warrnambool in the summer and Coolum in the winter would do me fine ..

    Beautiful parts of the world;

But, Warnambool is almost on a par with Wilson's Prom - in the depths of summer (Feb) it can be absolutely arctic at both places - and for days and days on end.

Of course; if you like that degree of changeability over summer; then yeah.

Waterfront in Birchgrove (Balmain). East side of Louisa Road. Or anywhere on the Snails Bay shoreline, really. I would get another big old timber boat and moor it out front.

Somewhere not more than 5 minutes from the beach - and a beach that you can swim at, ie, no saltwater crocs or "hot season" stingy things like near the Whitsunday.

Also, would need to be a domestic airport (maximum 1 hr), have an okay hospital (just in case), two distinct seasons with being prolonged cold and cafes ... Hawks Nest - Old Bar - Fremantle - Brunswick Heads

    This Crescent Head Holiday Park

    would be near Port Macquarie.

The problem being that all PCers (formerly SSers) would sell up their respective PPoRs, move to CH and then overload the Internet (downside) whilst getting together for a daily siesta at the Country Club or CH Tavern (upside).

One will definitely outweigh the other.

    What's not to like?

Up a mountain somewhere there's actually decent rainfall so I can grow alpine strawberries in peace.

Up along the coast within walking distance of the beach somewhere between Byron Bay and the gold coast, on a decent sized parcel of land for my kids and animals to be free to explore.
Unfortunately the job is back here in Canberra, so we will probably never leave. But although this isnt my ideal location, I do love living in canberra. Its just a different lifestyle to what my ideal would be.
