Missed out a property in Palm Beach a few years ago and ended up in Brisbane

The Mrs also stopped me from buying a place in Burleigh Heads too so no fate with the GC :(

Shame. We love it here. We walk along the beach or around the channels most days. Lots going on. Loved having winter here too.

As I recall, Travelbug was from the Hills district.

If your Daughter is in Newcastle you would be best looking around Lake Macquarie, just below Newcastle and above Central Coast, its mostly Cheaper around the Lake than Central Coast which has been gettinga lot of Sydney overflow so prices have swelled, somewhere like Toronto, Rathmines on the west of the lake or Blacksmiths, Pelican, Swansea, if you want to walk to the beach. Still many undiscovered areas around the lake, worth a good look and closer to your daughter. Ive heard from locals you need to be really picky in Nowra due to some areas not being safe. The temperatures are also really nice, by the lake all year around. And Newcastle has an airport that you would be able to access your other family

That would be a lot of reading to find that out!

Yes @NatureGirl, and thanks for your thoughts. We have bought a block of land at Crangan Bay, at the bottom end of Lake Macquarie. It's a new subdivision, and the land (close to the water) won't be available until late next year. It's 15 minutes to beaches, and easy access to get back to Sydney - so really suitable for us for the reasons you've mentioned.

Iā€™m sorry I am a first time user of this site, unaware of how far your journey had already gone on this site, I seem to have offended some regulars with my naive suggestions.....I am glad though that you have landed within cooee of one of your daughters and honestly, having some exposure to the region, I believe the area you have chosen is destined for great market gains over the coming decades...all the best for your retirement to this lovely area

Hills area. We sold in January and were supposed to be overseas until June. We were going to rent for 6 months and buy next year. Who would have guessed

Thanks you. That sounds great. I do have a bike but haven't ridden for a while. Hopefully the old saying is right. I will message you with my number.
    cheers, Lynne
P.S- you did know I'm a girl (old one) right? LOL

The Facebook group is really good. It's passed 100 members, either people who've already bought or people who want to buy in upcoming stages. I've bet a couple of next door and very close neighbours already.

One of the people behind the marketing of the development contributes to the group. As a result, we've found out that the street names were selected by elders of the local Aboriginal mob, and he has provided meanings to the street names. So it appears that I'm living at the end of the rainbow.

Gwandalan has lots of new houses being built. We looked at blocks there, but there was nothing special about them. No views, a long way from the water.

The Crangan Bay development doesn't have any houses being built yet. Stage 1 of the development won't have any blocks ready to start building until the end of the year. It's quite close to the water, walking distance though not viewing distance (waterfront trees are being kept). We really like the block and the situation, it has something just a little extra.

The subdivision won't be ready for building until the end of the year at least - plus probable Covid delays.

We can't even sign building contracts until the new subdivision has been certified.

So it's going to be a while yet.
