What is the best city to invest between Melbourne and Brisbane at the moment (considering the property cycles) which will give me good overall returns. Looking to invest in 10-15 KMs radius. Budget is ~550K. Looking for a balanced property with the good yield (~5%) and CG. Appreciate any comments to support the suggestion.

Buy and long hold strategy with potential development/ subdivision in 10 years times.

Have an IP in Sydney so looking to diversify to other cities.

Brisbane is more likely to have more upside since it didn't have an unprescedented boom like Melbourne. A lot of infrastructure projects are happening and revitilzation of the city makes it more appealing in a 10 year time frame.

Can't think of any properties in Mel that would fit those criteria.

For Melbourne, maybe within 18 KM radius from CBD. And yields between 4-5%.

You may be able to snag a freestanding house in the Laverton area for that price range. The yield won't be there though.

    Is this a trick question?
    Why, Parkes, of course! :)
