    Hi everyone,
Would appreciate some insights. We’ve been looking for a home for a few months now and cannot seem to find anything.
    Budget up to $900k.
Preferably looking to stay in north west as kids are in primary school and don’t want to move far.
3 bed home (minimum) family home within a good secondary school zone.
We’ve been looking around Pascoe Vale South, Coburg, Strathmore and in the last month have seen prices skyrocket. Homes selling for mid-8s two months ago are now going near the $1million mark or over.
I’m worried we are going to get priced out of the market. Plus there’s not much stock around.
Where would you be looking for this budget?

Everyone's telling me there's been a housing price crash... so maybe they were $3m 2 years ago? :D

Do you need a big yard, or a townhouse do?

Land is preferred, not so keen on a townhouse as we plan on holding on to this for some time. We may initially rent it out so are happy to buy a fixer-upper with scope to extend/renovate in future.

This is what we thought too and wanted to capitalise on the falling prices but have found homes in the areas we are looking at moving back up to 2017 prices.

Thanks for the suggestion but we need to stick to the north west for work, school and family reasons.

@CMelb I was looking around that budget myself, but in the south east, and totally priced out for a house.
May have to either look another suburb or go for townhouses (which I dont personally like)

900k for a house in strathmore? You might be several years late. Might need to look at coburg north

haha that warburton camberwell one was indicated 800-880, which was never going to happen, ended up at 1125K... people are still paying stupid money for camberwell primary school zone.... it was basically a knock down job and had the belgrave/lilydale/alamein trains roaring through the backyard every 8 minutes.

    astute purchasing.
