Was looking in investing in Brisbane close to city (20 - 30min drive) and beach if possible as an investment property but later down the track if I end up moving to QLD I can use it as my PPOR. A suburb that you can start a family.
Not sure if its a good idea? Your thoughts, Im not so familiar with Brisbane suburbs areas are good for living, bringing up a family and you can find a house for reasonable price $500K?
May be areas like Carina, Stafford Heights, Braken Ridge, Upper Mount Gravatt, Yeronga or maybe Zillmere?

Read the "Brisbane Looks Good" thread. It is all there.

IMHO, if you have one head, look south of the river; if you have two heads, you will fit in better north of the river :).

Looks like you wont get a house for $500k in some of the suburbs you listed. Zillmere is low socio-economic.

Just ignore Kierank, his heads aren't reaching much consensus at all this week.

Coopers Plains and Runcorn - all have a train station with trains that go to the city, airport and gold coast on the line.

Also has the benefit of not only getting the 'Brisbane growth' but also the Sunnybank growth.

What does the OP call family-friendly? Probably not Zillmere.

Springwood, Shailer Park, Daisy Hill and Cornubia are worth looking at. They're less than 30 minutes from the city (except during peak hour) and an easy 45min drive to the best beaches on the Gold Coast- which is much closer to the bottom of Brisbane than the Sunshine Coast is to the top of Brisbane.

Despite being in Logan, most (okay fine, many) neighbourhoods in these areas are good areas for families and capital growth is expected to be good- Logan Council has huge plans for the Springwood business district.

Zillmere is definitely low socio-economic. But my perception is that it's split into two 'micro suburbs' which are divided by the train line. The Boondal side is unpleasant, but the Aspley side in fine (and has the NBN).

I've walked home from the station at night with no concerns, and when I walk to Aspley shops on the weekend people are friendly. There's a lot of older folk around so there could be decent urban renewal in the next 15-20 years. I think it's worth a look - you'd get a decent place for $500k.

Feel free to PM me if you want me to check out an places for you.

You could try and squeeze into Carina with a slight increase in your budget.

Try Wynnum west or tingalpa for the proximity to city and beach.

If you want to sacrifice the beach, then add keppera, ferni grove, ferni hills and Michelton to your list.

Some of the suburbs here could be slightly more than your budget and sometime it is better to spend a little bit extra rather than doing any renovation down the track. Good luck

Try Algester, Standard 3-1-1 still under 500k.

its likely that if its a house for 500k in a near cbd locale e.g. carina/camp hill, the house will require significant work. As you are a mexican looking to initially invest and then flee north yourself ( hopefully legally :)), I will assume you do not want a fixer upper. In which case either look further out e.g. bracken ridge , or consider different options such as townhouses in the areas you want e.g. yeronga, annerley, carina/camp hill etc.
Note also that the whole beachy thing is very different here in brisbane than acapulco, cancun, bondi or anywhere in mexico. Its placed as lower importance by locals. If you ask brisbaneites their criteria, the beach will likely be far down the list, unlike in sydney. Not saying its right nor wrong, just saying that the bbeing close to the beach has a far less driver for CG than say in sydney.
