    Hi,

Looking to buy either the following to live in for a few years and then possibly rent out later if yields are good:

    1. House 3-4 bedroom house (600k-850k) double storey, at least 405m2+; middle outer ring or closer to CBD preferred
    2. Apartment (550k max budget) good school catchment, higher quality and newer 90m2+ and closer to CBD, lower body corporate fees

Any advice on good locations worth looking into?

Have been looking into these locations for houses (mostly in south and west side):
    Eight Mile Plains
    Rochedale South
    Calamvale
    Kenmore
    Westlake

Also these for new land/houses (but a bit far imo):
    Willawong
    Pallara

Have been looking into these locations for apartments:
Indooroopilly (was close to buying this but decided no https://www.realestate.com.au/property-unit-qld-indooroopilly-134837338
West End (hard to find decent sized)
    Toowong

Haven't purchased a property before so can also consider first home buyers grant

Any advice and insight will be great thanks everyone!

depending on where you work, maybe add in 4152, Carina, Carina Heights, but probably priced out of Camp Hill.

You already have some good locations there

West-End ,Dutton -Park would be too high an entry price.

Annerley-Moorooka Salisbury would be in that price range..

Not sure if this is still for sale but it would be in your price range..
66 Toohey Rd, TARRAGINDI QLD 4121 - Matthews Real Estate

Good to see people still wear the Lederhosen when having a quite drink..

Any particular reason have been looking in the South? Plenty of Northside options to consider like those mentioned above.

I'd personally avoid apartments unless it was something very special. Long term holding land is the key in the suburbs you have mentioned.

Where in north? South is preferred but can also consider north.

Been also looking at Pallara with new land + house package under 650k

Like Thedoc recommendations, Ferny Grove, Ferny Hills, that way offers great value while on the train line for your budget. Nice Owner Occupier suburbs, go figure out. Use Google street view and drive around.

Great rental yields too, a lot of demand, low supply. Can’t go wrong.

But, for Asians, South is preferred I heard. Asian groceries, communities are mostly in the South. Depends on what you want to achieve...

There might be some great suburbs in the South that are attractive to Aussies of Asian descent, but they are also very attractive to MAMLs, people with heritage from our neighbours (NZ, PNG, Pacific), WASPs, bitsers and mongrels (like me :) ). And first nations ppl, LGBTIQ ........ who have i missed. All abilities of course.

So i think the diversity argument for South of Brisbane is a very strong one.

Remember the Asian locations in Brisbane are changing. Its not a Sunnybank and surrounds thing so exclusively anymore.
They like St Lucia, Toowong etc near the Uni. Kelvin Grove also. West End because of BSHS.
All of these right near the city. Much closer than Sunnybank.
And plenty bought into the units in South Brisbane (the suburb).
Elizabeth St has become 'Koreatown' in the last ten years. Almost exclusively Korean businesses for a few blocks (just like Sydney has Thai Town etc).
    Changing.

I’m also from Melbourne, good choice picking Brisbane over Melbourne for IP imo.

Decent house around 600-700 k (last year 500-600) rent for 450-500 per week.

This one looks good if can get less than 650k. Update the carpet, kitchen. Rent out for 500+. Good luck!

Any thoughts on the upcoming Glen Waverley of Brisbane? Curious on school zones.
