Purchasing our first property in Adelaide ~450k mark - looking for something to hold onto long-term. Any suggestions in Adelaide's northeast?
In particular, I'm considering whether further from the city but sticking close to obahn - e.g. dernancourt; paradise; north side of windsor gardens would be wise, or to try for something slightly closer to the CBD e.g. south side of enfield, clearview - knowing that the transport options are more limited.

Any other suggestions for areas in Adelaide for long-term growth around this price range welcomed - looking for traditional block size, 3 br homes where possible but we've got scope to buy something that needs work

I think you're looking in the right areas - don't mind all of the areas and their surrounds, just about finding the right property for the right price.

I'd check along the o-bahn line mostly - gives an easy commute into work which is going to be a hit with tenants.

Not an expert in Adelaide but I've got clients looking at Oakden/Holden Hill area right now with budget around the $450K mark. Depending on your strategy, I think it could be good opportunity to snatch up some bigger blocks of land with subdivision potential down the track, just means the house will need more work.

Heard from locals that lots of things are happening around those areas right now with subdivision, knocking down of older houses and building new ones - suggesting the area is going through gentrification so could be an option.

    Cheers,
    David

@D.T. and I had a bit of a look at a couple of units (note: "unit" in Adelaide means something different - think "housette") that I bought in Brooklyn Park in 2016 for $300k each trying to get an idea of current value. I had assumed they hadn't done much at this point but after a bit of research and some input from Peter Koulizos, it appears they're worth around the $360k mark! A pleasant surprise and as D.T. has said a few times, it shows "Adelaide isn't the sleepy hollow everyone thinks it is".
