Gold Coast is growing on me in a big way.

Feel more relaxed each time I fly back here from Sydney.

No traffic, friendly people and great pace of life. Can definitely see myself moving here to start a family.

    It's also 40min drive to Logan :)

    Cheers,
    Michael

I don't really know why, but Germany. Always wanted to move there and retire. Can travel around Europe weekly for short trips, and i'm able to get an EU passport, which i'll hopefully do in the next few years.

Long way to go till retirement, although we've set the mark at 50, which is only 21 years away.

Can vouch for both Gino's East and the hot dogs at Portillos. There's a pretty good episode of Anthony Bourdain in Chicago with some eats.

Also consider a few beers at Goose Island beer garden just across from Wrigley Field.

Doing a bit of a travel/food show side trip is always important.
Man vs Food has some good stuff if you're into that sort of thing.

Agree - Hawaii or Bali for me - we're beach people. Leaning towards Bali due to proximity and $$

Agreed. Born and raised in Sydney and surrounded by beautiful beaches. It's in my blood. That is where I find my peace of mind. If not in presence, in my imagination. That is how I put myself to sleep on those sleepless nights. Imagining hearing the ebb and flow of the surf. Nothing like it.

Im sick of living in 3rd world countries. So that rules out most of SE Asia. Nice place for a holiday, but not to live.

For me my ideal retirement would be about a 50footer, with a beach house in the Midwest of WA as a base.
I wouldnt mind a house in north Japan for winter breaks.

A cracking suburban home on Sydney's lower north shore. And we will be spending 100 or so days a year overseas....paying by the night, not buying anything to tie us down.
