I love Perth but not in winter. My Grandad used to spend summer in Adelaide and winter in Brisbane. He loved it. I was wondering if I could spend 7 or 8 months in Perth and the rest of the time in Brisbane. I really like Brissie too and there are some great priced properties there compared to Perth. Options, options.

Wherever the family is - I want to be a hands-on nanna helping with swimming lessons and attending school assemblies. I might even help in reading groups! Then perhaps spend each winter in Europe (two summers a year woo-hoo)!

I want to retire somewhere near the beach, at least 300 days per year of sun with no real winter to speak of, and a good selection of nice golf courses near by....

Um; in Aus, please...probably Northern NSW.

But if I absolutely had to; I could lower myself to move to Florida. :D

I like reading this :) I just booked an apartment on Michigan Ave in March via air bnb. I'm super excited about Chicago - I've never been but it's always appealed to me. Probably has something to do with the 90s Bulls though.

I don't think we'll relocate to another city/country to retire. I don't think we'll ever officially retire either - I'd go mad without work.

Instead - I think we'll continue to live in Canberra as a base and continue to travel whenever the desire comes up. Not much different to what we do now.

    I'm exactly the same.
Although I'd get a nicer house with city views and a pool, in the same suburb.
And a garage so I can buy the Ferrari I promised myself at age 15. (I said by age 40 - It's frivolous, but I'm not completely discarding the notion).

A nice house either built already or I will build one on couple of acres in nsw on a lake with a boat ramp and jetty.

have a couple of horses, cows and a motor bike track that leads through the bush.

Or anywhere on the water. beach, creek, lake, river.

Wherever I feel called at the time. But I already moved to paradise, so there is no longing for something else. The retired folk I admire most in this area live deeply present lives connecting with humans, walking in the bush and being active in our local natural surrounds, plus they contribute in some really valuable ways and travel a lot. That is the attractive package for me I think.

Regional NSW (somewhere around Albury) or Adelaide hills on about 100 acres.

Great bars. Great restaurants. Great shopping - especially around Michigan avenue. Head South to the Field Museum. Head North to Wrigley Field and Navy Pier. Head a little west for United Centre. The city itself will knock your socks off , just walking around. The architecture is amazing.

Pretty much same here. With 4 golf courses in the area, Hervey Bay has everything you said and is relatively cheap to buy there. Problem is the beach is waveless (due to Fraser Island being in the way), so unless you are happy with just having a float, it's not going to fit the bill.

We could be neighbors, we want to retire to Main Beach (one north of Surfers, still in the heart of it but away from the young yahoos :))

I think Mareeba holds that slogan, up the hill from Cairns. Not sure about gold courses but you could build one up there

Waves are just an extra plus...floating in the Bay on a 30 footer, drowning worms and drinking cans, or paddling around in the kayak will do. :p

FYI we stayed at Main Beach a few weeks ago; quite good actually.
