Bunnings = Last resort for anything.
    Expensive, subpar products.
I shop there when i have no idea what exactly i need and buy a whole bunch of things, then i return what don't need.

Loads of lighting stores like beacon around. Electrical wholesalers like Turks, L&H etc. Trade hardware stores can be OK but limited. Fans are usually sold in lighting stores as they often contain lights and are powered.

Electrical wholesalers are usually a safe bet as they cant afford to sell crap to tradies. (ie noisy fans).

Then Canterbury is a good option. There are two stores that are across the road from each other.
You can catch a train or bus. Train is about 10 min walk to the two stores.
