As part of property investing and mindset, many of us have a goal that's driving us to invest (and the love of property), I'd love to get some insight into what drives many of you to invest in property?

Me personally, I want to be financial stable & comfortable enough to give my future family and kids the best opportunities. I also hope to be come a role model and inspire others to take control of their future!

+1. I want to stop working to allow me to focus on learning things - italian, piano, martial arts, a law degree, carpentry.

Buy back freedom for myself and family to live the lifestyle we choose. We are not truely free unless we have freedom of choice in our lives. The overwhelming majority of society attend activities every day of their life not by choice but by necessity. They simply have no choice but to undertake those activities otherwise they won't be able to function for long before running out of food, shelter, security for family etc.

Being able to have absolute choice for the areas which affect our lives most is true freedom to me.

That's our goal. Practically we've already reached it so now we do what we do mainly because its so much bloody fun.

I want to live a good and fun life without money pressure and without having to work anymore.

I would like to be able to go on a cruise with only a few days notice, I need 2 things for this, money and to not have work obligations :).

Lastly, I want to know my wife will never want for anything if I were to pass away.

For me the goal is to get my time back and not be tied to a job. I want the flexibility to do what I want

I tell myself I want financial security and want an easier life later.

However, the more I hustle with my career and investing, the more I enjoy the action, challenges and growth.

    I don't want easy. I want a challenge.

I have material goals and financial goals but the ultimate goal is to challenge, grow and enjoy myself until the day I die

Im sitting here with my baby daughter asleep in one arm and typing with the other. She was born 1 week ago. I have 2 other small boys and a beautiful wife. I am richer then I could ever hope to be.

I don't worry that much about money although I only work 4 days per week and am on a modest wage. My biggest goal is to ensure my family is comfortable later in life so another few IPs and some in shares will do that.

Don't forget that the journey is more important then the finish line people. Your children don't care how many IP's you have so get off this forum and go and have a play with them.

(big tongue in cheek there) :)

Be able to go down to 3 days a week (0.6 FTE) by the time I'm 45.
Earlier and less days are stretch goals, but this is what I'd be happy with.

Echoing others; I'd like the freedom to choose when/how often I want to 'work' in the conventional sense (9-5) to free up time and energy for other life pursuits.

I also want to be financially stable enough to have the means to help my family when they are in need, should they need.

Since I possess such an active mind, I will always want to 'work' on some kind of project, but like others said, with the flexibility to randomly go "you know what, i need a break" and just jump on a cruise ship or whatever for a couple of weeks.

To build something great that enriches other people's lives.

To keep challenging myself and not be complacent just doing the norm.

To provide for my family and ensure they are always happy and comfortable.

I just don't want to work anymore or work when I want if I want.

Unfortunately I dont see this as achievable anytime soon.

3 kids under 3 are just going to get more expensive.

    Daycare is killing our cashflow.

They will get hungrier and need more clothes.

How many toys can they possible have? Never ends.

Add piano, swimming, sports, dancing...really need to hit the spreadsheet to make sure the figures stack up.

Those who want to be financially free for their future kids need to consider what kids actually cost. We all want the best for them and will break away from strong disciplines.

We've had a good run with IPs and salaries. We are on a decent combined family income and still struggle to really knock down debt aggressively.

Just for curiosity sake, what is a middle income family of 5 expected to save each year with both parents full time?

    $20k? $50k? Dare I say $100k?
