Christmas is getting closer and its time for me to get cheap!
A couple of years I was on daddy duties and was up at sparrows fart ready to do my jobs for the day. Off we went to the shops and forgetting that I was up so early I got to the shops before they were even open! Walking through they had the Santa seat out for the super expensive photos. As no one was around and my daughter hated Santa it was a perfect opportunity to get a photo 1. Without the tears 2. Free!
We crossed the velvet rope and I sat her in the seat and took a photo! A lady walking passed thought it was great and took a photo of the two of us.
This will be the 3rd year, I'm hoping to continue it as a tradition

Anyone else got a favourite tight ass skill FB_IMG_1446899986710.jpg

she looks so small in that seat - little cutie. It would be great for her to see the photos over the years and how she has grown in comparison to the same seat.

my tight ass skill is shopping in bulk and directly from farmers - even meat. I try to avoid supermarkets where possible.

Haha - bob that's awesome. I'm going to have to follow your lead. Our two year old is petrified of getting close to Santa - poor guy had to sit on the floor when getting photos taken last year.

Instead of getting a meal combo from kfc, skip the drink, save 5 cents and drink from the tap.

Our tight ass 'thing' is only getting water for drinks when go out. The kids fill up a water bottle before we go anywhere and it's water only ordered at restaurants. Hubby and I've suffered through many complaints from the kids but knew we'd succeeded in this habit when we last went out and didn't hear a peep about the jug of water :)

    I have a mate who is the ultimate tight ass. A couple off the top of my head;

    • Doesn't buy freezer bags. He buys a few oranges or apples and stuffs a few extra bags from the roll in with them.
    • Has his wife ring his number and hang up at the first ring so he can see her caller ID, then he calls her back on his work mobile that his employer pays
    • And the best..his wife needed a new CV shaft in her car. It was going to cost a couple of hundred dollars. He had a half price AVIS voucher, so he rented the exact same model and switched them out for $35.
Can't say I've ever been that extreme, but if we are travelling long distance in the car or out for the day we'll usually pack a few sangas and some drinks and fruit or other snacks. Take away adds up for a family of four or more.

God I've dealt with so many tight asses. We have parents who refuse to pay the gluten free surcharge for their kids so they end up having to eat gluten. Nothing better than saving money over your childs own health.

If you only buy things that you or your loved ones actually need with money you already have, you will beat "the system". :)

Haha. The next level to that one is getting a kilo of drumsticks and a kilo of prawns and swapping the paper wrapping!

    Grill'd had $10 movie tickets.
So I had a mate (not it wasn't me) who would goto the counter and say he forgot to buy his movie ticket when he got his burger (never bought a burger).

With the price of going to the movies these days, not a bad one..

@bob shovel if you do want to give the Santa a shot there are a few centres around who catered for kids with special needs but also others who are just worried and scared about the whole thing. My photo is working for me but Midland Gate are holding one on 29th November from 9-11 before the shops open. The event is run by CLAN in Midland
