I report in every day that I am sick. Being doing it for nearly 6 years.

Can't go into work because HR might have a DCM (Don't Come Monday) notice. If I don't come in, they can't give it to me.

I hope and trust they keep paying me. My bank is relying on it!!!!

I have had approx 7 sick days in 19 years.

I can't stand the way people use sick leave as a/l. It's there if you get actually sick. If you are using that many days a year and they are genuine, something is wrong with you. Hang on I'm beginning to see a theme here, something is wrong with you!

I actually don't believe the post by DB. He is stirring!

Public service usually requires a medical cert for more than two or so days sick in a row.

If the people at work are sicker than me, I go.

It's actually a bit stupid. Both sick days are in the last year. Before that, there was a mindset that unless you were dead, you would go to work. And seeing as I never died, I never missed a day until last year.

Mind you, I didn't even get my wedding day off.

Go on B, admit it. You had it off on your wedding day.

You asked for 1 day off on your wedding and they said no?

I hate going to the Dr.
My work allows 5 days sick leave a year without a certificate.
I dont go over that as I'm not going to the Dr.

Maybe..the number of sickies is probably an exaggeration, but I wouldnt be surprised if its still high. Look at his other posts- consistent theme all through it.

It varies for me. I'm another one who picks up every bug that's going around. Since I improved my diet though things have been so much better.

I had an awful run a couple of Xmas's ago. I was sick for about five weeks in a row - just could not shake a horrible flu thing. Would go in to work every few days and end up getting sent home. It turned out to be pneumonia, which explained a lot.

Judging from your posts...you can't be possibly be serious...you are taking the **** ..right?

10 years ago...I had to get rid of 2 people for taking excessive sickies. 65 days...I would have got rid of you a long time ago.

I have been sick...but continued to work from home.

    Surely taking the ****.
There is something like 248 official work day sin a year and you expect us to believe there are people taking 100 of those days off in sickies.

    That's practically casual employment.

    Yes.

I worked in the morning on a Saturday, wedding in the afternoon. Back on Monday, no honeymoon.

    On paper, yes.

Things are different now that I am the boss and I can. As a trainee, we all adopt a sort of martyrdom mindset.

Mind you, I still don't take sick leave, and I haven't taken rec leave for 2 years. I go in to work every day.

As they say, there is no free lunch.

Awesome - glad to know all those tax dollars I rack up for the govt are going to great use.

I'm not surprised though - I worked in the service years ago and saw this sort of behavior first hand. It's disgusting. So much fat to be trimmed from the public service.
