@monalisa and I made three Brisbane trips this year. Liked it more than Sydney every time!! Relaxed people, lovely weather! Almost tempted to move sometimes :|

City was a bit packed on a Friday arvo. Otherwise I thought it was ok?

I have only been there once, couple of weeks ago on a weekend. I enjoyed the Brisbane traffic so much.
It was comparable to what sydney traffic is these days during holidays.

If you dont like travelling in the Cabs then download the UBER app.
Some dont know there way around of course but they have the GPS .

As for people shouting out on the street after a while it becomes the "norm" and you tend not to notice.
A lot of people with mental illness around the City.

Same with ambulance and Police sirens you tend not to notice after a while.

Sometimes if your a Cityslicker you can pick Country people or out of towners..I was with a friend yesterday (Orthodox Jew) and we had just arrived in the City from Bondi Junction.
Whilst in Goulburn Street near Pitt St I heard this lady shout to her husband and their teenage kids to "look at this " pointing to my friends dress, Black hat, black coat, white shirt etc, Must of been something of amusement to them i guess in their boring lives.

I usually mind my own business but if someone asks me something Or I see tourists looking at maps usually I offer to help .

However last week I was standing at the traffic lights in Liverpool Street and Elizabeth when a young guy and his girlfriend walked up to me and shouted "Casino mate !! Where is it ?
I had to glance around for a moment to see if they were talking to me?
No please or excuse me just ... Casino mate where is it ?
So i just ignored them and kept walking .

Sometimes I wear the earphones ... Blocks out a lot of noise ... People asking for money etc.

    I think i now understand. .
In my previous trips to sydney, it was all business paid staying in fancy hotels etc...so i never got to see the other side..now, on my dime, i have seen how expensive the accomodation really is, the real crowd on tje streets ( have seen spitting in bins, numerous bogans with tatoos upto their eyes - not joking, homeless at a lot of street corners really down and out etc..) the haves and have nots gap is wide...and this is all in the cbd

What about capital growth? lol any of that up north?

Sydney has been up to its armpits in CG.

Come on Vanilla, take the Druitt challenge! I'll flag the turnoff on the M4 so you won't miss it. Go straight up Carlisle to Westfields, grab a coffee from Gloria and scour the agents for the IP bargain of a lifetime!

I'll be in the Maccas carpark in a silver commodore. There's no pressure.

The homelessness is a problem and no other cities are immune to this. Here in San Francisco there were numerous homeless people and there are always large gathering in the fringe areas.

Yeah... Belmore Park just near Central now has heaps of people living in tents, and up until around October there was the Aboriginal Tent Embassy peaceful protesters in the Block in Redfern (they have now gone and the Block is fenced off to keep people out)

You can blame the govt if you see an increase in homelessness over the years. Govt is slashing funds to everything. Crime can only increase.

I think it has worsened over the years. It's a complex issue in my view.

It's present and increasing. Unfortunately both the state and federal governments are doing very little regarding housing those not so mentally stable.
