Wow! Was she stashing in parts of the building itself or in her own furniture (which clearly she would have taken with her). My MIL used to say if anything happened to her to check carefully. She used to stash cash in a pair of rolled up socks, in her hair roller case etc. That is stuff we wouldn't have thought about unrolling, or emptying out to check for cash.

She doesn't do that now but I guess we will still check everything carefully one day.

Friend of mine started digging for foundations for a garage and kept digging up glass jars crammed with paper money. Got enough in the end to pay for the garage. This was on a new subdivision too so must have originally been stashed in the bush. I only got left with a garden shed stacked high with half used paint tins

Parts of the building, one that she found before leaving was in a little hidey hole where the pump for the spa was. She thinks there was probably about 40K unaccounted for when they left.

In a rental we lived in when we first moved to AU I was playing in the tool shed and found two sets of antique rose gold cuff links in a cardboard box along with loads of screws and nails, my folks still have them today :)

Nothing that 'strange', just the usual drug paraphenalia.

One house though the owner was a nutter who was highly superstitious - so the every room was covered in mirrors, dream catchers, horse shoes nailed to every door entrance. Half a dozen trees outside had little 'spell' scriptures tied to the branches, HUNDREDS of them.

There was a mountain of wishbones next to the sink too...

We found watches and wedding bands in one of our latest properties which were clearly the vendors overlooked when he was moved into a nursing home. Got in contact with his solicitor and dropped them off.

    A noose ...

Pushed open the manhole in the ceiling. Found a tethered old rope tied in a hang mans knot configuration and attached to the roof truss directly above the the manhole.

It felt like I had seen a ghost.

40 grand lost in the walls? What year was this happening circa? That's a lot of money. Was worth ripping out all the walls to find it. Then pay less than half to fix it and paint again, no?

about 10 years ago, they were spending most time in Hervey Bay renovating the unit to move into and basically had very little time down here. My mum just wrote it off as "stupid tax" in the end :).

If I had known about it (she didn't tell me till years after they sold it), I would have spent plenty of time searching for it, I am pretty sure I know a few spots where some of it would have been too lol.

It could indeed but alas, it was not to be. She just laughs about it and says she hopes it brings someone joy. They did well and made their future in only 10 years of investing, they wish the same upon everyone else :).

That's pretty cool, I would like to have a big property somewhere with a train carriage on the land.
An actual train and small track even better.

Haha, ofcourse!! Its pretty amazing. Apprently the previous owner had a tenant living in there and a blanket left behind in it. They also had it hooked up to electricity. Very interesting but wierd
