Really SOL is just TPM, NHC, BKW and some bits and pieces, it's TPM holding being c.70% of its NTA. It's typically traded around 30% discount to its marked to market NTA, that discount will have closed down now due to sell off of TPM.

Further drops for TPM. Should this be considered well into the buy territory?

    Not advice. Question only.

Depends how comfortable you are with NBN access charges. They are much higher than most people expected.

For people who follow this thread but not the LIC and ETF threads, I just wanted to remind you that InvestChat is an ideal place for these types of discussions.

Same software platform we run here - but focused on shares/managed funds/ETFs/LICs/SMSF/insurance/etc.

InvestChat :: Australian Investment and Wealth Management Community

Lots of great discussion happening there now - would be great if some of you could come and add your experience and comments to the shares threads - or start some new threads about specific shares - better to have a single thread per share when discussing news about a company - makes it easier for new people to catch up on the discussion rather than having one long thread like we have here.

(PS don't worry about the rabid traders - I'll keep them in line)

Although in this scenario, having a general thread is more likely to make you look at shares that otherwise wouldn't be on your radar.

That's why having an entire discussion forum about investing in shares (and other asset classes) is worthwhile - since it gives you a much broader exposure to different topics and it's easier to identify topics of interest to follow :D

11 members and 40 guests online right now and 118 posts in the past week ... there's a lot happening now.

I also have been curious about buying into SOL for a while... if it falls in line with TPM, I would be getting interested...

I've been tempted with SOL a number of times but haven't proceeded. We own a large stake in MLT where SOL is the third largest holding at 5.6%. Hence I'll probably continue to be content to own SOL indirectly. And MLT has much broader diversification without large exposure to a single stock.

I think this is going to evolve with time.

For what it's worth a close friend of mine is a senior executive at TLS, a keen long term investor and Harvard MBA, he's been buying TPM around $9 this week. Like BKI both of us hold TLS as well.

Saw that this morning and you've beaten me to it! Gotta get up early to compete with the falcon....

Truly amazing to me that so much money can be spent on a ludicrous and deprecated network without any understanding of how it will affect the industry.

I’ve often thought the way out our current economic malaise is fiscal not monetary, but every time the government embarks on one of these public projects they spend the most money on the worst solution. Truly, only governments can borrow at sub 3% rates and not get a satisfactory return.

I broke my "LIC only" trend recently and bought some Blackmores (BKL) last week. Only a small amount
