There are more than enough examples of video footage of interviews, comments, opening statements by anchors - over the past 18 months - to prove you wrong.

The best of which is how almost all those news networks reacted when it was clear that Trumpster had won...they were all grieving and in mourning.

That in of itself doesn't prove that anything said was inaccurate or biased or fake; but it sure as hell proves that for one thing none of them were happy at all.

Given this; how would they ever move forward and report in a balanced and even manner?

The more the losing side of media carry on with biased reporting the more they will force their patronages to take sides. At this stage it is not looking good for CNN (and MSNBC). Trump has singled CNN as purveyor of fake news and took no questions from them. CNN is on an implosion path - branded purveyor of fake news, access to US government downgraded, credibility questioned, patronage disenfranchised, etc. It is pretty sad to see the destruction of a once great news network.

Celebrities follow suit as well the more they carry on. Meryl Streep is exemplary, but I have written enough on this.

So many people knock media just because they carry an alternate view from their own. There seems to be a drive to try to shut out, or shut down, anybody with an alternate point of view.

It seems strange to me that investors, especially those with an interest in the US, should take some account of a contrary point of view to their own, otherwise they might miss something important. As depicted in "The Big Short".

Getting back to the original topic. I see shares having a good run for a while- just how long depends on how much infrastructure work is going to be carried out. Trump didn't mention that in his press conference so shares dropped back a little.

However I don't see that continuing in the longer term unless some promises don't get delivered. Tax cuts for individuals and companies; increased infrastructure spending; increased defence spending. On the flip side, increased stimulus and jobs, and decreased public service spending. But I don't see that as enough to offset the massive extra spending required alongside the tax cuts. There's potential trouble along the way.

Cutting public service spending too much can bring about its own problems. It could be argued that problems with the census and Centreline were partially caused by under resourcing.

I'm not an expert so I may be way wrong. If I am then anybody has the right to say nah nah nah to me.

But if the economy does do well- and I hope it does, as it's going to affect us a lot- I suspect that it will be because there's had to be some changes along the way.

It's not that alternative view that is the issue, Geoff.

It is the agenda and the content.

Let's put aside that all news networks should be reporting unbiased and in a balanced fashion...We all know that this is very far from the actual reality...from my experience; the ones who are biased to the Right will usually declare their hand...but the Left? Never.

Everyone with eyes ears and half a brain has woken up to how the left-wing mainstream media has gone out of it's way to try and bring down Trump - since he first announced he was running for Pres.

Such things as crowds like CNN, MSNBC and others spending two weeks bleating on about Trump's private "boy's locker room" conversation that was secretly recorded and then leaked, ot Ivanka's bracelet during an intervierw and how bad that was...but spending only about 8 seconds talking about Hillary's illegal server and the missing emails - which went missing after being subpoenaed....and mostly reported as Hillary having her account hacked, and poor her as the victim.

One is a bit of unsavory (but private) naughty boy's talk conversation (and don't tell me girls don't talk like this too), and the other is an illegal act that is punishable by jail.

    See what I mean?

This is why Trump has had enough, and those networks like CNN are now the laughing stock of the industry.

CNN are now ******** their pants and Trump will give them not one inch. It's absolutely fabulous!!

    And then there's this rubbish;
Celebrities Call For ‘Total Hollywood Strike’ Until Trump Resigns

The difference is a station such as Fox will show these morons as....morons, and have a good old belly chuckle and do this  a few times; as they should,

Meanwhile CNN will show them as...social justice warriors fighting for their Country and the average Joe against the evil oppressor..o_O

    See the differences?

Yes, I am well aware of the difference and I don't think it will change unfortunately.

Did you watch the interview with Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen. Media beat up again.

    Sigh.

I should have known that any attempt to bring the thread back on topic (shares) would not have had any chance of succeeding.

Does anyone even watch those Celeb backslap-fests anymore? o_O

Yes, saw the Michael Cohen interview...what a total disgrace and an absolute joke that they couldn't ever smear Trump (and Michael Cohen) and get the right guy.

I think this is called "fake news" and at worst; terrible and unresearched journalism.

Now that Hillary Clinton has sailed off into the sunset, maybe we can rename CNN the Crap News Network? :D:cool:

Michael Cohen is thinking of sueing, I believe...

These celebrities have huge egos! They actually believe that they lead America and that they will be missed so badly if they go on strike for 1 month! Don't they know that they are not indispensable? If nothing comes out from Hollywood, there are plenty from elsewhere and some of them are just as innovative, entertaining and informative. What clowns!

Surely you jest. Sean Hannity ? real news ? This guy lies, distorts facts and stats, pushes conspiracy theories, rejects science. A conservative propagandist. No credibility whatsoever.

There is a big difference between political leaning and straight out lying, you haven't proven anything. Most news organisations lean one way or another. Some go too far and just start making stuff up (glen beck, alex jones, hannity, breitbart). Real news sits in the middle, some leans a bit left (smh, bbc, guardian, nyt, wp), some leans a bit right (the Australian, UK times, telegraph).

Some people take the blue pill and listen to far right propaganda news and live in their own distorted reality. In this world the muslims are out to get us, there is no global warming, clinton is evil, etc, etc.
Others take the red pill and get the truth and both sides of the story from the dreaded "main stream media"

Regarding the stock market, my educated guess is that we will see a "buy the rumor sell the news" scenario. Markets climbing now but shortly after inauguration, probably in 1st quarter, there will be a large market correction and US dollar decline as the ineptitude of Trump becomes apparent.

Not into shares but property markets are currently booming in USA has been since 2011. Go to Zillow markets have recovered, nice time to be playing

    US economy is improving.

The thing is once you are turning over profits in US then you have 35-40% profit on currency play alone when bringing it back..a no brainer.

OK, back to Trump I like him:)

Anyone who is not Left is "far right" according to you..and also many people of the same leaning.

Describe "far right" for me if you would, as you see it. At what point does anyone become a loony far right?

I wouldn't call this lady "far right"...just a normal and very intelligent young lady. But hey; she's a privileged white person; can't be any good, right? Lucky she's not a white male..that would be horrifying.

    Meanwhile, over your side on the "normal side"; try this one;

Bill Hawkins, Ph.D - President of Talladega College (and a black man) decided to accept an invitation for his College's marching band to perform at the Inauguration.

Since then, he has received death threats, has been asked to quit his job, has been harassed on social media and so forth.

This is what the "normal side" are doing...is that the sort of behaviour you would agree with? Because; all those people demonizing him consider themselves normal, too.

Luckily; Dr. Bill has not buckled to the rubbish....must be "far right"?

You might want to also look up Omarosa Manigault...she is a Member of the Executive Committee of the Trump transition team, so yeah; "far right", right? Because her views are certainly not yours.

But; she is black, and a woman....er, what?

Currently, the USA has a $60B per year trade deficit with Mexico...by implementing his Company tax cut reforms, many Companies who are currently contributing to this, or thinking about doing it (by setting up in Mexico) will reconsider their decision....it has already happened as we have seen with a few Companies.

If Trump cuts even half this debt, he will have done a whole lot better than "inept"...not to mention the increase in jobs and future economic growth.

The other ramification will be more confidence and a probable rise in the share market...more wealth in their Country all round.

Yes; apparently it's not ok for Trump to single out a media network - or any network.

Amazing how short the memories are:

that journalist should have been escorted out the door

Once Trump is actually president I expect there will be consequences to this behavior.

I thought it was totally disrespectful
