Further to @Rugrat's post I thought we could use this post to add any unusual or "interesting" design ideas sighted during our property travels.

    Here is one

At least they had the sense to go full height with the tiles - no paint ormould issues.

If you stare at it with your eyes slightly out of focus, are you supposed to see anything in 3D? o_O

A friend of mine rented a property as a student that had a uniformly pink bathroom. Litterally everything in the room, from floor, to sink, to toilet, to ceiling as the same bright pink.

Ladies might complain about guys missing the loo and making a mess, in this case, you could barely see it because it was so well camoflauged. Not to mention being in the room would evenutally induce headaches...

I've seen it all and we really have to question past colour choices don't we?! :D
Mind you, having said that nothing beats some nice lino offcuts on the wall or fireplace surrounds if you can't afford colour.... or some variations on tiles to jazz it up a bit.
If the stove is looking a bit old why replace it when pink may come back into vogue?
    Ditto with patterned carpet LOL
A few pics from some of our past inspections over the years.....

If you look at it for long enough you will make out a bear moonwalking through the set.

The asbestos tiles on the wall win :)

But I also think the lino fireplace surround is a stoke of genius! Bling on a budget!

It was so funny @Jess Peletier the previous owner worked in a linoleum factory and was allowed to bring offcuts home to use. He was nothing if not creative :D though it was a huge expense for the TV production company to dispose of all of it professionally before it was on TV!

The Renovators- a Channel 10 show that only ran for one season unfortunately. Our agency searched and located the homes for the show- challenging but fun. We certainly saw some doozies and not just the house of Lino either :D

Here's a couple of shots of the kitchen in a post war removal home we tidied up a while back. Lovely mustard and floral number. To top it off the ceiling was covered in those foam squares that were in trend for about a nano-second in the seventies. The shots of it in transit didn't make it look any sexier unfortunately.
I thought it would be okay for tenants;) but the wife though otherwise. a.jpg b.jpg c.jpg

As we re-jigged the layout it had to go unfortunately. But we found an as-new kitchen in an Ashgrove house that was getting totally gutted, so we re-purposed that one into our project. The shot with the glass splashback shows this kitchen in its first location, and the next is when we whacked it into our place with the white subway tiled splashback. I love scrounging for bargains and hate seeing good things go to waste. Think the tenant likes the new kitchen a tad better also. d.jpg e.jpg
