I've recently fixed my interest rate on my IP loan for 1 year, so have freed up some funds from my offset account.

Just wondering what people are currently investing in, or looking at investing in?

    Some options I'm considering:

    1. Do nothing (leaning towards this due to the uncertainty in the market and having flexibility when my fixed loan ends in 12 months)

    2. Invest in asx200 index (possibly not due to the uncertainty in the market)

    3. Invest in gold (no experience and not much knowledge)

    4. Invest in crypto (no experience and not much knowledge - but know that bitcoin is pretty high right now)

Invest your funds 60% bitcoin, 30% ethereum, 10% chainlink.

Hold until December 2021 for capital gains tax discount.

Sell all crypto around Dec 2021 and invest in etfs vas, vgs, ndq.

    Thank me in 12 months.

If it were me I would be going down the equities path, and I would be looking at the ASX, Asian/EM, maybe EU and beaten down value and energy.

Option one is not "doing nothing" it's going to cash, which is still represents an investment decision. It has a good chance of being worth less in 12 months than today.

Cryprocurrency should not make up any meaningful % of an investment portfolio in my opinion, only put in there what you are prepared to lose.

Also bitcoin profitable days are above 99%. You could have held bitcoin at any time in history and you would be in profit 99% of the time.

That coupled with the fact that bitcoin is in a secular bull trend means it is most unlikely (but not a certainty) that you would not lose all your money after 12 months of holding it.

I have some funds in p2p loans but currently pulling out funds as capital is repaid. Have been very happy with my returns on Plenti (formerly Ratesetter) but they have capped the maximum return at 6.5% which is not in line with what I am aiming for from this type of investment.

I had been getting about 8.5%-9% return.

    Regards,

    Jason

I think in AUD we’re at 100% aren’t we? I thought we’d already broken the ATH in Aussie dollars?

What does this mean? This statistic would likely be true for any major stock index or property market.

It means that every other time this has happened over the past 10 years it has meant a minimum 2000% price increase.

If you bought at the 2017 peak, you have been in profit 0% of the time (to date).

Fair enough, it's 3 days in profit of the last 1071 if you measured in AUD :p

It just hasn’t been worded properly. Everyone knew what was meant.
99% of bitcoin holders would be in profit from their buy in price.
