I was in Colombia for three months this year. They are spoilt for fresh fruit juices. Blackberry, papaya, guava, passionfruit- all freshly made. Plus a few fruits I'd never heard of. Sugar can juice with lime juice is a favourite. Also lime juice- a whole lime, skin and all, blended with water, ice and sugar, then strained. Beautiful.

In Mexico they do a drink from sweetened rice water, and another from rose Llandudno flowers.

Shall I introduce the fluoride conspiracy theory now lol?

We do not drink during weeknights, if I find myself wanting a drink I have a red flag response, I make a cup of green or herbal tea..

Also we don't drink tap water. Gotta protect your pineal gland!!

In this case, there is no substitute for good red wine I am afraid.

At other times, sparkling water is ok.

We became quite addicted to mora (blackberry) juice while we were there.

Tried to buy some frozen mora concentrate from our local Colombian cafe here in Sydney a few months back - just wasn't the same (came out too watery, even though we followed the instructions). Nothing as good as the fresh stuff.

When in Singapore, we really enjoyed the Lime juice - although I'm not sure how much sugar is in it - quite a bit I suspect.

Ginger beer. Either the commercial varieties or 3 parts grated ginger to 3 parts lime juice and brown sugar to sweeten. Serve with soda water.

Cranberry juice and soda over muddled limes is fgood too.

Tonic water with a wedge of lime.

Good quality tonic water (Fevertree is a good one, the Mediterranean version has lemon thyme, rosemary and citrus as well) is a must - not Woolworths own brand.

I knew it! we're doomed! Gotta try Oolong tea with steak. But but but... that sounds wrong. :(
I've seen non-alcoholic wines in Woolies. They're just packed with sugar and no alcohol.

I don't drink much, or often.

    Water works a treat.

Water mostly for me, or if we are out, and a non-alcoholic drink is preferred; Lemon, Lime, Soda and Bitters for me.

I pretty much stick with water too. I'll enjoy a red wine occasionally, but even out to dinner, I'll choose water.

And I've become a water snob. We have a filter that completely removes all the nasties (not a reverse osmosis, but one like they use in hospitals apparently). I used to be a little offended when a friend used to carry her own water with her to my house, but now I get it. I thought Brisbane water had "no taste" but I'll only drink it if I don't have my own. It took me about two months to get used to the "taste" of water with no taste. Now if I drink tap water I can taste it, and I don't like it.

I carry my own water with me now.

sparkling water, mint and a dash of lime/lemon juice.

    Another yummy low calorie drink
1 frozen banana and 6-8 ice cubes, half cup low fat milk, place in blender, makes a very thick thick drink, almost like a real smoothie and cold/icy without the calories/guilt free:)

I'm exactly the same - once you've become used to the "taste" of tasteless water, you definitely notice the very strong taste of water from the tap.

Even some bottled waters have a higher mineral content than I can typically stand.

I drink almost nothing but water (occasionally some iced tea or a hot chocolate), and am very much a water snob. I just have a simple single-stage bench-top filter unit attached to our kitchen sink - but it makes a huge difference.

I grew up on rainwater. I miss it. So much better than town water.

Yes, the taste of rotten leaves, dead possums, rust and other gunk that got washed off the roof and into the tanks - I miss that too :p

As much as the rain water was infinitely better than the tap water (especially in South Australia) - unless it's a new tank and clean gutters - it can still taste pretty bad compared to filtered water.
