Law in particular would be soul crushing.

I'm pretty young so it's recent memory for me: parents wanted the best for me so they did their best to get me into a selective school (girraween). Ended up getting excellent academic scores and did comm/eng at Sydney university... Very prestigious and fun but engineering is soul crushing. As I'd assume most professions are. Still have to provide my parents with an ROI on their commitment to my schooling even though I'm not doing engineering professionally now

I pulled out of Science/Law the night before applications closed. I toy with going back every few months or so, but it's unlikely to be hugely helpful.

Perhaps it does not start this way....... but most people end up hating their jobs regardless of what they do, its just a means to an end.... or have I got it wrong?
I know I am not helpful, but its just what I see.
