Went and lay on a couple of the Makin' Mattresses beds yesterday - and - for the first time in 6 months I got up after half an hour without aching hips ... woke up this morning and it's taken over an hour of stretching to get my back relatively pain free so, needless to say, mattresses are now ordered and hoping for delivery later this week

They have a 5 year policy that if the mattress doesn't suit, they will adjust it (they make them onsite) to firmer or softer etc for free

australia cant compete with china cost of production, that includes labour cost, but more importantly economic of scale,

australia can produce locally for 25m people.

china can produce locally for 1.5b,

its a very "simple way of looking at" economic of scale, we all know its not that simple, but for something like a bed, where even most local brands source from the same Chinese factory,

also while is not so clear cut, most stuff that are "australia made" are really australian assembled isnt it ? i know food stuff they have to list where they get the ingredients from, not sure if products are the same

It might. "Product of Australia" is a higher claim.

Bought a makin mattresses belissimo .... so good and hard to get out of, of a morning

Have turned out once already, and bloody heavy! Took two of us. Didn't think it was that heavy as the delivery guy just threw it in his shoulder to bring inside.

    Back is very happy :)
